From this angle you can see five somewhat bright white LEDs. completely normal. What's in the middle, though is a bit stranger. It's a lens. And when the switch is set to the middle position, it projects an image of a woman!
Power was going down all around us so I made an early dinner, and almost as soon as it was done, darkness. Luckily Alex talked us into some really bright LED flashlights so we could see to eat at least. We got out the hiking stove for tea. The power is back on now for us, but over 55,000 people are out of power atm. It is sooo windy - gusts to 110kms. It literally sounds like a train going through.
I get a lot of questions on my lighting. This is a sample of one of my favorite tools. That's right a flashlight.

This is the first time I've taken my dslr out of it's bag in 2011. I've been taking pictures with my powershot, but just never had the time or desire to take my d70 out. I've been trying to catch up on other arts that used to hold more value to me, like drawing and hopefully painting soon. I have been reading a ton more too, so that takes up my time as well.
As far as this photo goes, I took my camera out to test other remotes I have just out of curiosity and maybe boredom. Haha. Since it had my 35mm f1.8 lens on, I decided to take some low light photos of the crap that I have lying around on or in my desk. This is the best one. Playing with my two flashlights. I am posting it mostly because I wanted to write, and I guess just to post something since it's been forever.
This polaroid is one of the shots we made in this workshop i did, the workshop was led by an artist who was doing a project: photography for the blind, letting blind people take pictures by painting with light [darkroom, long exposures and a flash-light]..it was super cool / fascinating

Showing the 365nm wavelength. Although less powerful, the 365nm mode of the flashlight allows some items fluorescense to be more visible, as it cuts down the violet reflections from the very near UV.

The second level basement of the building was quite dark and cold as demonstrated by the vapor in Joe's breath, illuminated by his mothers corny flashlight.
