Up atop the Grand Mesa tonight as a storm moved through the valley below us. Heaven opened up and shone a beam of light down on the valley. Amazing sight!
More in the sunset series from Ocean Reef Beach. I have a couple more to post in the next couple of days. This was quite a productive shoot and the colours were spectacular there. Again some of the foreground has been painted by flashlight to provide some detail.

#Ridge
This is a ridge that "came to me", or I stumbled upon, rather than having it included in my list of possible objects for our theme. Not that I had much of a list, but there were a few possible candidates.
It's funny with "Ridge" because with every possible idea I kept thinking, "Is this a ridge, or is it just an edge, or is it neither?" Regarding a mountain's ridge (or an Australian Ridgeback's characteristic back), the concept was perfectly clear. But otherwise... But it's probably just a language thing. Several things in the example gallery weren't subjects we would call a "ridge" in German, so it was a little difficult to wrap my head around it.
Sticking to the mountain context helped, however, and the "ridge" (which also happens to be an edge) of this small porcelain baking mould suddenly ticked the box. It's a tiny thing (when thinking cake-sized) and meant for one portion of desserts or tartlets and such. Since I don't bake often, I'm using it as a small bowl for my afternoon snack (olives, for instance). And yesterday, when I had just finished that snack and carried the mould/bowl to the kitchen, I looked at its wavy edge ... and carried it straight back to my photo table. The next thing that came to my mind was the impressive footage of the partly frozen Niagara Falls I had seen on the news the other day.
And while this is nowhere close to the mighty water and ice masses of the real thing (the shapes here look more like soft drizzles of ice), I decided to give it a try. Once again, I went for high-key to create a cold, snowy, icy look. I used my daylight photo lamp as a bright light source from above, and my small LED flashlight (handheld from the left) to bring out the wavy shape of the mould's ridge and outer edge. For the blue hue, I equipped one of the warm-light LEDs with the blue glass jar (from the right). No focus stacking this time, as the scene lent itself to single captures.
Size info: The mould's outer edge is 2,5 cm/0,98 inches high.
HMM, Everyone!

""Flashlight"
When tomorrow comes
I'll be on my own
Feeling frightened of
The things that I don't know
When tomorrow comes
Tomorrow comes
Tomorrow comes
And though the road is long
I look up to the sky
And in the dark I found, lost hope that I won't fly
And I sing along, I sing along, and I sing along
I got all I need when I got you and I
I look around me, and see a sweet life
I'm stuck in the dark but you're my flashlight
You're getting me, getting me, through the night
Kick start my heart when you shine it in my eyes
Can't lie, it's a sweet life
Stuck in the dark but you're my flashlight
You're getting me, getting me, through the night
'Cause you're my flashlight (flashlight)
You're my flashlight (flashlight), you're my flashlight
Ooh
I see the shadows long beneath the mountain top
I'm not afraid when the rain won't stop
'Cause you light the way
You light the way,
You light the way
I got all I need when I got you and I
I look around me, and see a sweet life
I'm stuck in the dark but you're my flashlight
You're getting me, getting me, through the night
Kick start my heart when you shine it in my eyes
Can't lie, it's a sweet life
Stuck in the dark but you're my flashlight
You're getting me, getting me, through the night
(Light, light, light, you're my flashlight)
Light, light, you're my flashlight
Light, light, light, light, light, oh
(Light light light you're my flashlight)
You're my flash, oh
I got all I need when I got you and I
I look around me, and see a sweet life
I'm stuck in the dark but you're my flashlight
You're getting me, getting me, through the night
Kick start my heart when you shine it in my eyes
Can't lie, it's a sweet life
Stuck in the dark but you're my flashlight
(You're my flashlight)
You're getting me, getting me through the night
'Cause you're my flashlight
'Cause you're my flashlight
You're my flashlight
Ooh ooh
Ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh oh oh
You're my flashlight
Light, light
You're my flashlight
Light light ye-yeah
(Light light light
You're my flashlight
Light light)
You're my flashlight"

For macro Monday’s theme “wavy lines”. I didn’t bring a ruler, so I took a photo of me holding the item and placed it in the first comment box. Okay, I’m in Punta Cana! We arrived yesterday so yeah, I’ll take photos to share later but probably won’t be on Flickr much this week. Oh, and if you zoom in, you’ll see a glimpse of me and our hotel room. I hope all have a fabulous week!
A little pocket flashlight I keep near at hand for getting around if I wake up in the night. The photo is about 60mm wide. HMM to all and thanks for any views, likes and comments.
Thought of using tomato but ended up with these red grapes. .. getting over ripe but very sweet. Still have a bunch. Maybe it's time to freeze them.
Background is a plastic cutting board mat which is also translucent. Used two flashlights. One was cellphone.
