Photo taken for the Macro Monday theme “Low Key”.

In this shot I used a light painting process with my flashlight to brighten the rocks in the foreground. It's a neutral white so it looks fairly natural. I loved How the city lights in the background and the clouds turned out nice. Vlog below!! Kris....

Point Bonita Lighthouse keeps watch over the entryway to San Francisco Bay as dawn breaks along the Marin Headlands. I was standing on the shady side of the ridge, as the sunlight poured out from the bay like the beam from a night watchman's flashlight.

On my work bench behind the furnace in the basement I have found a zen practice of still life photography.

Using work lights, plastic boxes as filters, and paining the image during it's 8 second exposure with a flashlight.

.... and then of course came the lemonade part of the experience.

Arranging the leaves, branches, and fruit was quite frustrating.

I took that very aspect of difficulty and frustration and

channeled it into an intentional interaction with the flora.

They have to pretty much be all be in one plane to focus properly and their spacial arrangement must be composed aesthetically.

The light has to wash across them all evenly as well.

All the while like children they are jostling and moving about.

So I changed my attitude and transformed the whole drawn out experience into a ZEN meditation..... Nothing else matters during my time calmly concentrating on the steps needed to get the right shot....

And in the process I have managed to bring that same attitude to the frustrations I meet in real life... (sometimes it works, and .....

A close up of a bunch of dried lavender attached to the wall in the guest room of the house of good friends in France with the lights on. To my surprise my flashlight sees more as my eyes and gave this a 'frosty' look. That effect is emphasized once again by the texture of the wallpaper on left.

I was out one night looking for bugs and I ran across this unknown flower that was budding. It had rained a little bit right before I took this and had some realistic looking drops.

Lighting was with two small flashlights. Exposed with three macro tubes. Post in On1.

Barre des Ecrins (4102m) dans le Parc National des Ecrins (Oisans).

As promised, I made a marvel figure. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Similar to m Kitty Pryde I made a while back, This is a posed figure. He articulates the same as a regular Minifigure, but only really works in the pose in the photo.

The left leg was cut off at the heel and connected with wire to another leg and covered in ProCreate. The right one is a woody leg cut at the heel on an angle with a 1x1 glued on to get that angle on the heel.

The arms are done with the same technique, except his right hand is from a flashlight figure, to appear stretched larger.

The torso is done the same way, but using a sucker stick instead of wire.

The head is Legolas, with the mouth tweaked slightly and the left brow painted a bit higher. The hair is Sandman.

Overall I think this turned out great. What do you think?

Also, this is my entry to 100and500SCContest, since I haven't seen anything like this before.

For macro Monday’s theme “wavy lines”. I didn’t bring a ruler, so I took a photo of me holding the item and placed it in the first comment box. Okay, I’m in Punta Cana! We arrived yesterday so yeah, I’ll take photos to share later but probably won’t be on Flickr much this week. Oh, and if you zoom in, you’ll see a glimpse of me and our hotel room. I hope all have a fabulous week!

A starry, starry night a few summers ago. I went out late and stayed until dawn, shooting the Milky Way, the Perseid Meteor Shower, the magnificent night sky. No meteors in this shot, but the glow was stunning (admittedly enhanced somewhat in Photoshop). I carried an LED flashlight that night, and used it to "paint" the abandoned farmhouse in the foreground. I made an identical shot without the painting but ended up preferring this version.
