Yeehaaw! Saddle up, cowboy! I still need to do some more work on the saddle, but that's kind of the shape I was looking for, bone is actually easier to work with than I thought. I'll perfect the shape a little tomorrow and then I'll need to think about how to do the slots without a set of good saddle files.

This is one of two expirement sessions that I did on bicycle fit. I didn't have the setup bike at the time, so I used multiple bikes and tested on rollers and on a Cateye ergometer.
I had not figured out toe down vs heel down pedaling throughout the pedal stroke so my position may not represent what it looks like now.
After a good bit of filing the knuckle is the correct shape and operates. I used the Kozo designed non-opening couplers I made for the locomotive as a guide to shape these new ones.

We have to be careful about choosing a fitting function. In this lab, we saw that the period of a mass bobbing on a spring is dependent on mass. But was it a linear fit or a quadratic? The quadratic was slightly better, but only slightly.
We don't typically want to add extra powers to a graph to improve a fit unless we have a good reason to. As you can see from this drawing, the higher the exponent, the more inflection points are present, and this simply lets the graph curve to fit the data that's only so twisty because of error, not an actual pattern.
In cases like this, we typically want to start with known equations and to try and derive an equation that relates mass and period. This is done in University Physics and in AP Physics C, and when we do this, the relationship turns out to be quadratic.
The key idea here is that as mass increases, the increased inertia makes the object "lazier." Thus, the same spring takes longer to change the object's motion
