How fitting that the one hundredth (100!!) photo of my 365 project is the one where we got to meet Hello Kitty IN PERSON! It's divine intervention and was completely unplanned.
She didn't say much but boy was she cute! She posed for pictures and did all sorts of cute things...loved it!
It was a LOT of fun to be there at our local Sanrio store as they did a grand re-opening and the opening of a Sanrio Cafe right next door.

The same design as the 6mm Ply Double Layer Cube, but using acrylic.
Note the scrunching sounds as it fits together - just a little too tight for acrylic. Excess pressure pops the little pieces out!
The sheetrock sealed in the insulation we'd put into the wall cavities, and made it all nice and neat.
I snapped one still pic of the turtles before I filled my card, and this was it. I was pretty happy with the video, though, so no worries.

That's the British sense of "pants" (as in underpants). Apparently showing up to a fitting with no underpants is a problem with some actors and extras.

'It's been a hive of activity at Noah Enterprise Centre in Luton lately! Not only have the teams from Noah, Watford New Hope Trust and Crisis Skylight (London) been working on construction of a section of the central timber posts but the Noah Enterprise art team have taken the lead in the design and contraction of sculptural elements (including the wall of small views) as part of the industry and manufacture section of the garden. Its been a really great experience for all of us at Architecture Sans Frontières-UK to be involved with the Chelsea Flower Show for a second year and we're really glad that we have this opportunity to collaborate with everyone on such a fun and fruitful (pardon the pun) project! See you at the show! '

Thank goodness it's the last day of the work week! It's been a crazy week...and it's only gonna get CRAZIER!
Needed to notch the front crossmember to get the Fiero Radiator to sit level with the top of the core support. Some cars have a "thinner" crosspiece here. Not my car...
In order I might fix my mezzanine floor/shelf across one end of the shed, I fix steel plates which have a machined and threaded boss brazed to the back which fits in a flush routed hole.

These compression fittings, and the cable sheathing to accompany them, come from Kari-Tek, in the UK. The idea of using one of these fittings, with 6 mm pin as a pivot, came from Etienne M., on the kayak builders' forum. I debated leaving the hexes proud enough to get a wrench on them, in case I didn't trust the strength of the epoxy attachment. I decided to go all-out on adhesion, and fully embed the hex. I cut extra grooves into the fittings, as well as in the wooden receivers, to make sure there would be no tendency to turn, no matter how much reasonable force was applied. A Dremel tool was all over this operation. Note in the first photo, that the tubing stop had to be drilled out of the fitting that holds the 6mm pivot pin.
I used a drill bit, and SS bolt shank to hold open the holes when I applied the epoxy. I let the epoxy set up, before removing them -- with difficulty! It might be better to let the holes fill, then re-drill them. But, alignment is particularly critical with the pivot pin, as the pin must fit into the hole on the opposite side.
Pie-wedge skegs are usually built with a fixed pivot pin, and a slotted blade, which would be simpler. But, I did not want the blade to be slotted, as my goal is to have the smoothest retracted skeg as possible.
I eventually decided the thickener strips at the base of the box were not tall enough, and added some additional material.
Here are Etiennen's posts and tutorial on skeg construction, from which I borrowed heavily. I also referred to Gnarlydog's skeg project for several details.
At Cafe Rouge, this couple was sitting in front of us, listening to the live music. And then I tried catching them in the frame... :-)
Sun was playing games with clouds, a romantic late afternoon and love was in the air :-)
and... I wish Meera a very happy b'day :-)
Sorry I couldn't get a feet photograph in here. I know that would have been the best one. I will try and get the feet one for you :-)
So this is the last one from my current files, before I go out and click some more :-)
Hope you are having an awesome time and eating a lot of cake on my behalf!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY :-)
