Barefoot season is right around the corner...Yay!! :-D

March 20, 2021 - California Poppies and Wildflowers at Chino Hills State Park. Photo Shoot with Ayla Qureshi, Leticia Hernandez, and Andrea Parsons.

When the geese saw a family on the footbridge feeding the turtles they made a b-line to where all the action was.

Between the turtles, ducks, geese and giant fish it was a feeding frenzy of sorts. I took as many pictures as I could but almost as soon as that family started feeding the turtles they stopped.

Naturally I had to step up to the plate, as it was, and take over. There were still more mouths to feed and more pictures to take.

Seen at Dauset Trails Nature Center.

No, this isn't Secret Squirrel, but he is very clever! He knows after people finish feeding the turtles, ducks and geese using the machines provided Dauset Trails, there is usually a good bit of critter kibble which has fallen onto the bridge where the people were standing.

On previous visits we've seen both squirrels and ducks make their way to the bridge and do a thorough cleaning of any mess left behind by us humans.

It was fun to see the tradition was still in going strong. :-)

I have a soccer game tonight at 10:40...ugh, tomorrow is gonna blow.

Here comes the spring again with all the spirit of celebration and the fragrance of life

Life celebrates the new beginning, Life welcomes the new start.

Essence of spring is in the air, color of life is in the smile.

Five hundred varieties of food crops are grown on the four acre Regenstein Fruit and Vegetable Garden. Here the garden is view across the Great Basin.

Mormon Row, Wyoming. The first day of spring morning sunlight warms Mormon Row's pink house, barns and the Grand Tetons in the background.

Enjoy,

Continuing to post a few photos from my archives until the next time I go for a drive. I am adding the description that I wrote under a previously posted photo taken the same day.

"After a long day out at Frank Lake on Saturday and then checking the upcoming weather forecast, Sunday, 20 March 2016, looked like it was going to be the only decent day of the coming week. Of course, we all know that weather forecasts can change. So, my alarm clocks were all set ridiculously early, though I still left home a bit later than I had intended, and I took myself NW of the city again to see if I could see an owl.

Just a handful of friends were there and we got a few moments of great views of this Great Gray Owl, including a very brief stop (seen in this photo) on top of a small coniferous tree right in front of us while it was hunting. I think it took all of us by surprise. During the rest of the time, I did see an owl fly off into the trees a couple of times, but the rest of the time was spent waiting and chatting with my friends. Patience .....

While we were waiting, someone spotted a beautiful male Mountain Bluebird way down the road. I am pretty sure I had caught a quick glimpse of another Bluebird on my drive to my destination. Also, I seem to remember catching a quick sight of another one recently, but can't for the life of me remember where or when. It's always such a thrill to see a Bluebird, especially the very first of the season. That flash of bright blue takes ones breath away. Two beautiful birds to see on this first day of spring!"

"Although the Great Gray Owl is the tallest American owl with the largest wingspan, it is just a ball of feathers. It preys on small mammals and has relatively small feet. Both the Great Horned and Snowy owls weigh half again as much, and have larger feet and talons. The oldest recorded Great Gray Owl was at least 18 years, 9 months old and lived in Alberta." From AllAboutBirds.

ridiculously amazing!

I thought I’d try and do an individual shot with each of my kids before my project is finished. I’ve done the boys so now it’s the girls turn. This is Jocelyne and she can be a goof, though you’d never know it if you ran into her, not that many of you ever will but you never know.

Our initial plan was to do a celebratory jump off a round hay bale to celebrate the first day of Spring but I had some technical troubles and some people troubles. Once again the remote would not work so I used the 20 second timer to give myself enough time to jump onto the bale and get positioned for our jump. But it’s hard to know exactly when to jump, you listen for the beep trying to hear when it speeds up and you watch for the light but most times we were off the mark. The people problem was the fact that Jocelyne isn’t so fond of jumping off hay bales…she thinks it’s a bit high and so after a number of attempts she had had enough and it was time to move onto something different. Another problem I had was my picture was so washed out and I couldn’t figure out why, I checked everything and thought it was all set correctly so I just upped my aperture quite a bit which seemed to help but figured out later that my iso was way up to 6400…duhh…how did I not notice that. I’d been fooling around with the iso in the morning using the NR to see what difference it made and hadn’t returned it to my usual setting…ALWAYS RETURN YOUR SETTINGS TO NORMAL AFTER FIDDLING AROUND WITH YOUR CAMERA ;-) Anyway, Jocelyne and I opted for this wheel barrow shot instead, all she had to worry about was me dumping her out of the wheel barrow.

No editing except cropping. I'm guessing that their tree is a hybrid of a star magnolia crossed with a loebner magnolia.

you.

In the last four days, I have only had Internet access on my computer on one of the days, 26 October, when I was able to upload five images. No landline phone use, either. Today, I finally got myself organized, with account numbers, etc., ready to make a phone call. Came upstairs and, as I approached my computer, the blue modem light was ON. Huge relief!!

So, here are five photos from my archives, as I haven't been anywhere since 19 October. Our weather has been nasty, with a few inches of snow the other day, and lots of overcast weather. Too cold for the snow to melt (including off my car!), so I have been hibernating for quite a few days. Just noticed that it is snowing lightly this afternoon, 28 October 2023.

If I wrote a description under any previously-posted photos that were taken on the same outings as these 'new' photos posted today, I will add it under today's photos.

Just a handful of friends were there and we got a few moments of great views of this Great Gray Owl, including when it was down on the ground during a failed attempt to catch a Meadow Vole. I think it took all of us by surprise when it flew and landed near to us. During the rest of the time, I did see an owl fly off into the trees a couple of times, but the rest of the time was spent waiting and chatting with my friends. Patience .....

I had a sunrise upload earlier, accidentally deleted it. I was whining about dropping my lens. Now I'm whining about spring ... or the lack of spring. I just wish it would get here! At least it is in the 40s today. However, 'they' are calling for snow on Friday :(

Happy Bokeh Wednesday!

Happy Ostara/Spring Equinox to y'all!

Happy First Day of Spring. I'm celebrating with a little Halloween.

WOW! This striking lantern has all the feels of a German Halloween embossed diecut! The size is perfect and the fact that it came with two flickering lights was a huge plus! Nothing but ear to ear grinning from me today. Thanks to Eric @grimquiet for an exceptional lantern to add to my folk art collection!

Thankfully, today is the first day of Spring. If I didn't know any better I would say it's the first day of Summer. It's so warm today! I went outside to try and get some shots, but the harsh light was too much. So, I came inside and tried some natural lighting. And I couldn't choose between the black and white, and color. So I chose both! This week, while hectic has been great. I'm happier, feeling more accomplished and actually look forward to each day. It's painful to look back a few months ago and see how much I was hurting. And, part of me still struggles with the why and how, but it doesn't matter as much anymore. I've always tried to understand the meaning behind the chaos, in all aspects of my life. I'm truly starting to understand I may never know. And even if I do know, it doesn't matter anyway. Here's to brighter days...

**I did another edit of this where the color was closer to the window and it faded into black and white, but I didn't really like it as much. I guess for me, I feel like I'm coming into the light and the other one had more of a "I'm fading away feel." If anyone REALLY wants me too I'll post it too =)

I just realized this pic had made explore, thanks guys! It's definitely one of my favorites =)

Today is my birthday,I was born march 20th 1963...the first day of spring. =)

I did a "Michael Orton's effect" with this portrait of myself .

It's the first day of Spring! Finally, it's finally Springtime!!

Oh, and it's been forever since I've done one, but Happy Bokeh Wednesday!

March 20, 2021 - Foggy Morning at Chino Hills State Park. Photo Shoot with Ayla Qureshi, Leticia Hernandez, and Andrea Parsons.

It was the official spring day in Australia...and the day could not have been more relevant - There was a palpable romance in the air - and in the Royal Melbourne Botanic Gardens - someone found the wings to fly. Well, cut the crap - but the flower indeed has got wings to fly
