Saturday morning was the first day of spring which I thought warranted some photographic documentation. I decided to sneak out of the house with out the dogs, who I usually take for a nice long walk in the woods on weekend mornings, (they insist). They just LOVE their weekend walks. Instead of the dogs, I had my camera and tripod in tow. After I left without them, and they were aware of that fact, they threw such a fit they woke Sassy up and she wasn't happy about that at all. Sassy just LOVES sleeping in on the weekends. So now the dogs and Sassy were unhappy with me. It was a fantastic spring debut here in the Seattle WA area. Sunshine, blue skies and temps near 70 degrees. I woke up very early and got this shot in the area where I'm usually walking the dogs on weekends, guilt ridden. I made up for disappointing everyone later in the day though. I cooked a prime rib on my Weber charcoal BBQ. The second time I've cooked a prime rib and the first time on the BBQ. It came out PERFECT! Not to mention the twice baked wasabi potatoes I cooked on the grill also. The kids came over for dinner, and it was a fantastic "First Day of Spring" celebration.
It rained so much a new record was created for Melbourne.
In fact its been our coldest Winter for 10 years, we've had the most rainfall in 11 years and the most snowfall in 20 years.
But the blossom is starting to come out and there is splashes of colour all around.
Mind, I took this over in Geelong when I went to visit future in-laws BFF and I went prowling around the neighbourhood.
It was actually a very unusual blossom tree as the branches had encircled the trunk of the tree and so a lot of blossom was embedded in the trunk of the tree.
Do love blossom, and LOVE my pink!!
I am now on my countdown for leaving Australia. Fly out on the 22nd.
Got the shipping quote today to send my girly things to Shane and nearly fainted at the cost. I think its the first time, Shane has seen me left speechless!!!!
I have all the packing stuff arriving from the shipper tomorrow so my time is going to be limited on Flickr over the next month.
So if I don't visit. Please forgive me.

During my coffee break in the garden I was totally convinced that winter has gone for good. And I was in good company with this wishful thinking. All around me the gardeners pulled their tools out of winter storage and started to work.
However, it's no secret that April (and sometimes even May) has some snowy secrets in store for us. So it's best to enjoy this sunny intermezzo because office work, household chores and all the other stuff can be done when it rains / snows again.
When I chose "why I garden" as my project for the x100 Edition, I knew that I would have a slow start due to winter, but I didn't think that it would be SO slow. Now things are greening up here and I'm starting in earnest.
I'm learning to use the KnitCompanion app on my iPad, and in the late afternoon I attended a webinar to learn how to set up a pattern in the app. It's very cool!

Gregory Gray Squirrel must have been awfully hungry today..........
Spring is in the air - the zoo animals are going thru their mating rituals, I have seen robins and red-winged blackbirds and grackles in my yard - good signs of spring. Today I spotted my first chipmunk. It is a little warmer these days.
But the BEST sign of spring is my cats are starting to SHED like crazy !!!!!
Happy First Day of Spring to my Flickr Friends !!!!!
p.s. 1st day of Spring - it is only 44 deg F
So long now I've been out
In the rain and snow
But winter's come and gone
A little bird told me so

Kristen went into the water (first time for 2014) and lets just say she was not prepared for the water to be cold!
This family invited me in after I asked directions while lost in the old city on Navruz day.
