A juvenile junco on one of the fallen trees. All the wood and brush piles have been alive with birds this week.

Lapin Agile is a historic #cabaret club in Montmartre which has existed since 1860. Although it originally had a different name. In 1875 the artist Andre Gill 🎨 painted the sign that was to suggest its new permanent name... a picture of a rabbit 🐇 jumping out of a saucepan and locals began calling the night club Le Lapin a Gill, meaning “Gill’s rabbit”. In the early 1900s, Lapin Agile became a favorite spot for struggling artists and writers including Picasso, Modigliani, Apollinaire and Utrillo. Happy First Day of Spring #firstdayofspring 🌸🌼🌷everyone!

First day of spring, first shot from my latest acquisition, a Polaroid 195 Land Camera. Scan from Fuji FP-100c Silk negative, reclaimed using the legendary bleach-gel technique.

Bunny McGregor was tending his garden and while pulling a carrot out for a snack it let out a yelp as it was released from the ground! Goodness Bunny McGregor looked and all be darned if that silly carrot didn't have a face - well how can you eat a carrot with a face. So now they are steadfast friends :D

I refuse to post the snow we still have .. so here's an archived shot. Today is my mum's birthday. (She passed in 2015 of Alzheimer's disease) We share March as our birthday month and Daffodil is the flower of March! Enjoy!

which seems slow in coming this year

Colours of this Spring captured at the Canada Blooms 2012 ! Wish everyone a wonderful and Colourful Season !

Peace

A partygoer at the house circle in Central Park flashes the sign of peace or victory. Perfect for the first day of Spring. Victory over seasonal doldrums. Peace and love on a perfect day weather wise.

I have been surrounded by expressions of love, all day long! I took a short nap, this afternoon, & woke to a bouquet of flowers, outside my door! I feel loved! What a great way to celebrate my 66th birthday!

With a bit of river ice, the the 767 ft length of the 'S.S. Arthur M. Anderson' passes through the open spans of the 'Charles J. Berry Bridge' on the Black River in Lorain, Ohio.

Historical Tidbits -

When opened to traffic in 1940 as the 'Erie Ave. Bridge', the 'Charles Berry' was the longest Bascule Bridge in the world with a combined lift span of 333 ft (101.5 meters). Today it is listed as the 2nd longest Bascule Bridge in the world.

'S. S. Arthur M. Anderson' - launched in 1952 at the American Shipbuilding Yards in Lorain, Ohio as Hull #868, most noted as the ship following the 'Edmund Fitzgerald' on the night of Nov. 10th, 1975 on a stormy Lake Superior, and after having reached the safety of Whitefish Bay, for setting out to search for the 'Fitz' under the command of Capt. Bernie Cooper and his crew.

Elements of Poetry: early Spring day ; brilliant late afternoon sunshine, partial shade; rotting vegetation, stagnant pond ; the ruined, magnificent desolation of Tommy Thompson Park.

First Day of Spring. A warm and sunny afternoon. I just happened to have my Canon G10 while driving down the road when I spotted this pretty girl with a body that could definitely stop traffic. Even if the traffic light didn't turn red, I would have slowed down for sure.

On a few select days each year (beginning of spring and fall), the sun rises directly in the east, illuminating the Lincoln statue in a warm glow. Just as the sun was rising, the National park Service starting hosing down Lincoln for his spring cleaning. If you know anything about lighting and photography, you realize that this creates a very unique situation as the water accentuates the warm light falling on the Lincoln statue. This is now a once in a lifetime occurrence, as I'm sure the Park Service does not wait for the vernal equinox (and a sunny one at that) to clean off Lincoln.

As the sun sank slowly in the distance, and darkness descended deeply into the woods, one lone robin sang one last song in thanks for the first day of spring. Or something like that...

The buds swell imperceptibly, without hurry or confusion, as if the short spring days were an eternity. - Henry David Thoreau, 1817 - 1862

Happy Birthday to my Daddy, to one of my best buddies, Chrisi, AND to me--all today! :D

ODC: Adventure - Here we go again.

This family invited me in after I asked directions while lost in the old city of Bukhara, Uzbekistan, on Navruz day. The eldest boy is given a new suit, the youngest daughter a new dress, and the other kids candy and money.

The Vernal Equinox is upon us and I thought it was as good a time to start up the 365 again. Perhaps it's time for a hair cut also...

Forsythie***forsythia***genus Forsythia

The flowers are produced in the early spring before the leaves, bright yellow with a deeply four-lobed flower, the petals joined only at the base. These become pendant in rainy weather thus shielding the reproductive parts.

It is widely stated that forsythia flowers are able to produce lactose (the milk sugar). Lactose is very rarely established in other natural sources except milk. However, the presence of lactose could not be confirmed. The actual fruit is a dry capsule, containing several winged seeds.

The genus is named after William Forsyth (1737–1804) a Scottish botanist who was royal head gardener and a founding member of the Royal Horticultural Society.

I know this is a rather amateurish attempt but it is the best I can do at the moment!!

The moon looked great tonight and I decided to have a go of capturing it.

The cropped picture of St Bridget is hanging in Ballylongford Church. I have also changed it to sepia.

As I child I learned that Feb, Mar and April were Spring. Back then that information may have been correct!
