This family invited me in after I asked directions while lost in the old city on Navruz day.

Navrooz (Norooz) is the Persian and Central Asian New Year, celebrated on the first day of Spring in Iran and many Central Asian countries. Often, the celebrations last for several days.

Made to Explore highest at #165. Thank you everyone!

She felt like JUMPING! (Taken with my beloved 70-200 2.8 IS L that is a must-have for sports and action. So fast, so precise---so heavy, lol. Shot w/ AI Servio.)

"The first day of spring was once the time for taking the young virgins into the fields, there in dalliance to set an example in fertility for nature to follow. Now we just set the clocks an hour ahead and change the oil in the crankcase."

~E.B. White, "Hot Weather", One Man's Meat, 1944

Thank goodness for 15 minute oil changes, and the fact that no one uses the word 'dalliance' anymore...

Someone forgot to tell the weather that...

Best viewed large. All rights reserved. An attempt to catch a duck swimming through the morning's sunbeam yesterday, at Tule Lake, California. The sunbeam was so bright I could only see the duck as he was on the edge of the beam and appeared to be about to enter into it...timing! Rather looks like a some country's flag, I think.

Incredible morning....the first day of spring!

I figured first day of spring calls for a photograph of wildflowers growing in Dallas. The flowers haven't come out in full force yet, but from the looks of it, they are not far behind!

Hope this photograph brings some joy to people battling massive snow!

These are Southern Sundrops (Oenothera fruticosa).

First day of Spring, Palm Sunday, & my birthday! It's lookin' to be a great day! My first crocus of the season was seen in Frear Park, Troy, New York, USA on March 11, 2016. I'm looking forward to new miracles, each day!

Navrooz (Norooz) is the Persian and Central Asian New Year, celebrated on the first day of Spring in Iran and many Central Asian countries. Often, the celebrations last for several days. Lyabi Hauz is a city square with a large pool, which was common in medieval Bukhara. The building in the background was a ancient Sufi house of worship, but is now a restaurant.

Today is the first day of Spring, depending where you live in our area we had 1-5" of snow.

Kỳ lạ như con đường hoang không tên gọi

Như mùa đông dài chợt có ngày nắng chói

Như gương mặt người thương mến không quen"

Lena and I headed outside to take some pictures. Today is not only the First day of April, but the first day in quite a while that it seemed nice enough to go outside!

Finally first day of Spring!

After the record high of 90F yesterday in Austin, this is what we got on the First Day or Spring!.

Rains with sleet in North Austin..

The sky was an ocean of blue upon which white flowers crashed upon its shores.

For MacroMonday, theme "Secrets". Another secret, despite the number of photos I take, I "trash" 90% of them. My lovely point and shoot somehow got a scratch on the lens just off center and about 1/3 of an inch long, so there are photos that get the "boot" because I can see the scratch. My intention is to upgrade to a DSLR by years end so I have lots to learn, as I have no clue what an F-stop is, what aperture or ISO mean.

Today is the first full day of spring in the Northern Hemisphere...the Cherry Blossoms are showing their appreciation.
