Why take 1 and take 2 and how come the difference?

After taking the Symonds Yat shots (previous 4 before these current bluebell shots) I wandered along a narrow trail through the woods on top of the side of the gorge, and that was when I spotted my first bluebell of 2012. This was one week ago.. They seem to be coming earlier each year now. As a child I never saw them until the beginning of May at the earliest.

Anyhow I tried for some minutes to get a decent shot of this one. With the 55-250mm Canon kit lens 'close ups' can be very hard work, and although focusing is easier with the 18-55mm you don’t get the smooth background. So after I finally got a couple of what seemed to be usable shots I thought I’d switch to the other lens, which I did whilst still lying amidst the woodland understory. And unsurprisingly was disappointed with the results. Got to my feet and walked on looking for new subjects. Nothing jumped out at me until I’d gone about 1k up the trail. Felt in the camera bag for the longer zoom. It wasn’t there. D--n, must’ve left it by that bluebell. Hurried back down the trail, actually part of a crisscross of several narrow trails and started seeing little isolated clumps of bluebells left and right! Would I find my one and would the lens still be there! In fact I did find it. The lens was nestling peacefully amongst fallen leaves and fresh new growth. Phew! So I thought while I’m here I’ll try some more shots of the bluebell and see how they would come out in the different light. In the woods that half hour can make all the difference. And as you can see in the shot below this one, the now lower angled side/back light gave a completely different colouring to the shot.

Interesting that this poem seems to be more about the creator of the tiger rather than the tiger and the tiger is described as fearful. If your were a deer and therefore tiger dinner I can appreciate the fearfulness, but to us this was a wonderful moment, catching our first glimpse of this magnificent and elegant creature. Truely a heart stopping moment and what a birthday treat for Ros!!
