I awoke this morning to find a light dusting of snow had fallen over night. This was the first snow in my area for this approaching Winter so a few pic were in order.

Today I think I took my last walk in the woods for Autumn.
Last night the temperature fell to -3 and there are very few trees left with leaves on. So I think we can now call it winter.
I've gone a bit upload mad recently but I feel each of these images has a tale to tell.

I found two photos I took of the first butterfly I saw this year, back in April, and made these visual journal pages.

The Tiger
William Blake
Tiger Tiger. burning bright,
In the forests of the night;
What immortal hand or eye.
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
In what distant deeps or skies.
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand, dare seize the fire?
And what shoulder, & what art,
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat.
What dread hand? & what dread feet?
What the hammer? what the chain,
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp.
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?
When the stars threw down their spears
And watered heaven with their tears:
Did he smile His work to see?
Did he who made the lamb make thee?
Tiger Tiger burning bright,
In the forests of the night:
What immortal hand or eye,
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?
Interesting that this poem seems to be more about the creator of the tiger rather than the tiger and the tiger is described as fearful. If your were a deer and therefore tiger dinner I can appreciate the fearfulness, but to us this was a wonderful moment, catching our first glimpse of this magnificent and elegant creature. Truely a heart stopping moment and what a birthday treat for Ros!!

This was given to me by the Driver of a soon to be Stagecoach First bus 2 days before the official Wigan depot transfer. He said they had only just gone out on the buses so I doubt many have survived and 2 days hardly gives much notice.

Skiing for the first time at 9? In Hanover, you might as well be 90. The melting snow didn't help either.
