Why take 1 and take 2 and how come the difference?
After taking the Symonds Yat shots (previous 4 before these current bluebell shots) I wandered along a narrow trail through the woods on top of the side of the gorge, and that was when I spotted my first bluebell of 2012. This was one week ago.. They seem to be coming earlier each year now. As a child I never saw them until the beginning of May at the earliest.
Anyhow I tried for some minutes to get a decent shot of this one. With the 55-250mm Canon kit lens 'close ups' can be very hard work, and although focusing is easier with the 18-55mm you don’t get the smooth background. So after I finally got a couple of what seemed to be usable shots I thought I’d switch to the other lens, which I did whilst still lying amidst the woodland understory. And unsurprisingly was disappointed with the results. Got to my feet and walked on looking for new subjects. Nothing jumped out at me until I’d gone about 1k up the trail. Felt in the camera bag for the longer zoom. It wasn’t there. D--n, must’ve left it by that bluebell. Hurried back down the trail, actually part of a crisscross of several narrow trails and started seeing little isolated clumps of bluebells left and right! Would I find my one and would the lens still be there! In fact I did find it. The lens was nestling peacefully amongst fallen leaves and fresh new growth. Phew! So I thought while I’m here I’ll try some more shots of the bluebell and see how they would come out in the different light. In the woods that half hour can make all the difference. And as you can see in the shot below this one, the now lower angled side/back light gave a completely different colouring to the shot.

Interesting that this poem seems to be more about the creator of the tiger rather than the tiger and the tiger is described as fearful. If your were a deer and therefore tiger dinner I can appreciate the fearfulness, but to us this was a wonderful moment, catching our first glimpse of this magnificent and elegant creature. Truely a heart stopping moment and what a birthday treat for Ros!!
I've never grown these before. Looks like there will be a bumper crop on two plants if the number of blossoms is any indication! Salsa in our future!!

First image taken after having the camera repaired at Photo Tech in New York, NY. I'm so happy to be able to get back to taking pictures with my own camera! :-) My camera now has a brand new shutter and one of my lenses has a brand new mount. The sensor was also cleaned.
Oh Jeez....I thought the worry, dread, fear, and anxiety would be over once I finished school. I could have never imagined it would double once it was time to send my babes. Please let them be kind and loving and nurturing to him....if not, Im'ma make a meal outta the jerks who mess with him.

The first Earth Day
Earth Day, an event to increase public awareness of the world's environmental problems, is celebrated in the United States for the first time. Millions of Americans, including students from thousands of colleges and universities, participated in rallies, marches, and educational programs.
Earth Day was the brainchild of Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin, a staunch environmentalist who hoped to provide unity to the grassroots environmental movement and increase ecological awareness. "The objective was to get a nationwide demonstration of concern for the environment so large that it would shake the political establishment out of its lethargy," Senator Nelson said, "and, finally, force this issue permanently onto the national political agenda." Earth Day indeed increased environmental awareness in America, and in July of that year the Environmental Protection Agency was established by special executive order to regulate and enforce national pollution legislation.
On April 22, 1990, the 20th anniversary of Earth Day, more than 200 million people in 141 countries participated in Earth Day celebrations.
Built in 1540-1541, this Ottoman-era mosque was the first to be built by the Ottoman colonial population on Rhodes to serve the growing Muslim population of Rhodes, and has continuously served as a mosque since its construction. The building is clad in stucco with a minaret featuring a stone base and a white stucco-clad upper tower, a balcony atop the minaret with decorative railings, and a conical roof, a dome atop the mosque, a front porch with arched openings, decorative stone trim, and a Shadirvan, or ablution fountain, in the square in front of the building. The building today remains in use as a mosque, the only one still in operation within the Old Town of Rhodes, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988.
