This Itoh peony gets its name ‘First Arrival’ as it is one of the first hybrid peonies to bloom in the year. This is a semi-double flower variety of peony that has crinkly lavender-pink flowers.

The exquisite blossoms gradually become redder closer to the center of the flower. The center of the Itoh peony flower looks like a magenta and yellow-colored spiky ball. These large flowers can be as many as 40 on each plant with each one measuring around 8” (20 cm) across.

Back from the photo workshop at Iceland. What a fantastic place for photography - different weather and landscape every 10 minutes during the trip. Trying to sort my impressions to share with you. Next couple of days will be colour, and the next period will be b&w, mostly from the numerous different waterfalls that we visited. And finally some shots on film, waiting for the lab to do their job. Many thanks to Jay, John, Jarad, Mike and Malcolm for making this a memorable trip.

We got our first snow of the year last night and it was a decent amount. It was pretty on my lunch time walk. Cold but sunny and the snow was clinging to the trees which was nice. One of these will be my 365 for the day but I can't decide which one.

Back in 2019 we got a handful of Nanking Cherries from one of our trees, but this year we got cherries on all three trees. This is the first year for the cherries on this tree. We have covered all three with bird netting, we want the cherries, they are so delicious!
