My first star trail ... very much a test shot to learn some lessons for when I do it for real later in the year. The focus isn't quite right here but I put this down to it being 2am in the morning and the few nips of Laphroaig that I had consumed beforehand :D Also, still very much learning how to use my camera's intervalometer.

Each time a parent brought food to this brood of fledged Tree Swallows, the first to spot the incoming delivery wound up getting the goods. In this case it was the second bird from the left. On Armand bayou.

I don't know about you, but I always know which phase the moon is in at all times.

I took a break from deep-sky to capture our beautiful first quarter (59% illuminated) moon earlier this week.

The image is a composite of two images to reveal the unlit portion of the moon for a more 3D look.

The starry sky was also added for effect. I've still got a lot to learn about solar system photography, but I REALLY enjoy it.

Emerging from hibernation after its duties as one of the stars of the American Freedom Train, Reading T-1 2101 is taking its first steps as Chessie Steam Special 2101. The changeover work was done at the former Reading Saucon Creek roundhouse in Hellertown, Pennsylvania. This initial steamup, late in the day on a Friday, was in preparation for a Saturday morning deadhead move down the North Penn Branch to Philadelphia, where the 4-8-4 will roll onto B&O tracks to begin its final excursion career.

While at Far North Bicentennial Park, I saw the first Grizzly Bear of the year. Too early for salmon so I guess he was just checking things out on a nice, warm Spring day on Campbell Creek.

And, yes, I was quite a distance away from him... 550mm lens far away!

Been in the Kalahari for a week now and this is the first time I have managed to get the internet to work, it's really pretty bad. Been really busy training but managed to take my camera out a few times. Hopefully I can upload some more and maybe even get a blog post sometime soon.
