A recent repaint into 2012 corporate livery, but still awaits the fitting of e--leather seats. It is understood that 36001-4 will receive a revised special livery for Service 31 but this is the first time 36005 has worn corporate garb since it was new nearly 10 years ago.

The Golden Grove (above) is the eighth of nine catamaran ferries operated by Sydney's Harbour City Ferries that are named after ships of the First Fleet. She is seen here arriving at Garden Island.

Built by Carrington Slipways, Tomago, between 1984 and 1986, the class replaced wooden K and Lady class ferries in Sydney Harbour. Originally, they were intended to operate on the Parramatta River but they generated too much wash.

The ferries displace 83 tonnes, have an overall length of 25.4m and have a maximum speed of 11 knots. They have a carrying capacity of 393 people.

The original First Fleet Golden Grove was one of three stores ships in a fleet of 11 ships that delivered 1,000 convicts, sailors and Marines to Botany Bay in January 1788. Built in Whitby in 1780, she was 29m long with a beam of 9.1m. The colony established by the Fleet was instrumental in the establishment of the State of New South Wales and the Commonwealth of Australia. - all of the above from various Wikipedia pages.

Finally, my maidens take off. At 8:03 am this morning I did it. The baby Loon, who is about three month old now took off gloriously over 500 meters and slowly gained altitude. He made three large circles over the lake as his Dad and I watched him and flew about 4, 5 km. His total flight lasted 3 minutes and 24 seconds. I’ve watched him in awe, like one watches his kid takes the first bicycle ride. He landed about 1 km away, too far for pix.

A bit later, his dad Loon caught a large fish and offered him. But after several minutes struggle, he gave up and the Dad gulped it whole. It was too big for him to swallow.

Ohh, the pains of growing up.

My sister and her husband. May they have many years of joy.

All natural light under midday sun can be really really tricky to shoot...fortunately my location scouting revealed a shaded spot where I could frame my image into a natural canopy. Usually, managing the highlights under contrasty lighting can be a real chore, but I think in this case I turned it to my advantage.

First Enviro I have seen with 'Tavistock' names on the sides, expect from timetable changes these to move onto the 83/86s. Be interesting to see what First put onto the Park & Ride services.
