Seagrave rescue truck. Berwyn Heights, MD

Saturday, 14 October, 2017, was the first time I visited Winster just in time to make a pictorial record of a village local history "event" soon after it had happened.

As I drove down to the bottom of West Bank there was a crowd of people at the west end of Main Street blocking my way. A bystander told me that two vehicles had been on fire and the street was blocked off at both ends while the Fire Brigade cleaned up.

I parked my car and took these photos at two different times during the afternoon.

Fortunately, I understand that no one was hurt in the fire.

Two vehicles were completely burnt out and at least one other appeared to have been damaged. A nearby house suffered damage to windows.

It says Feisu on the packaging as the manufacturer but this looks like something that could have been made by Kaixin or Jin De Le. Its a pretty crude and obviously unlicensed rendition of an International DuraStar with its recognisable front styling features tampoed on. Surprisingly this didn't come from a Chinese bazaar in Spain but actually from a card and novelty shop in my local indoor market in Huddersfield. Mint and boxed.

GTO10 1940 Dennis served with the Nottingham City Fire Brigade.

With so many cheap Chinese copies of this Fire Engine on the market its easy to forget the original Matchbox version is still in production. Its yet another generic unlicensed Matchbox Fire Engine but has been around now for a decade in many many different colour schemes so has obviously proven popular with collectors. Its styling is boxy with no weird or exaggerated features which helps it to look believable. Part of a five vehicle set which were in abundance in ASDA stores in the Christmas period of 2015, a great shame they couldn't have gone further and stocked singles like they used to do up until 2012. Mint and boxed.

Lovely Leyland Ergomatic based AEC Merryweather fire engine by Matchbox. The original fully roofed casting started life back in the 1960's but this particular one dates from the 1980's. Mint and boxed.

New generic but believable Matchbox MBX Fire Dasher. One of several found firstly at Tesco and also included in a 72 count case ordered recently from abroad. Lovely and well thought out classic American styling and a sensible way on saving license fees. Mint and boxed.
