Matchbox Series No:35.
Made in the UK by Lesney.
I think this was one of the first models with the Superfast Wheels.
Played with this a lot when i was young.
Funny thing is...I can remember buying this in a shop in Brockworth, Gloucestershire in 1970ish when i was 11. Not sure why i remeber this??
Can't remember what i had for breakfast yesterday!

Paisley Fire Engine Rally 2013.
It was a wet and fairly windy day at this years Fire Engine Rally so just goes to show that the sky's over Paisley are not always blue...

A light six wheeled drive rapid intervention vehicle with a 3528cc petrol engine which served at RAF Thurleigh.
Driving by this fire station one night I saw this scene. I just had to get a shot of it.

Volvo brought to the show a "New Fire Engine Concept" vehicle. The basic premise is that Volvo do their own chassis and bodybuilding in-house rather than selling the chassis onto a bodybuilder/converter to do the job for them.
Another Leyland Ergomatic based fire engine in my collection from Matchbox. Nicely cast and detailed though its a shame Matchbox had to cut the roof off! Mint and boxed.
You'd be forgiven for thinking I have just received a shipment of cheapo diecasts from AliExpress so you might be shocked to learn that this pretty crude Fire Engine can actually be found on the shelves of Waitrose where sadly it isn't too cheap! Its part of a small range of 1/64 diecasts sold there made by Zhongzhe Toys but quaintly branded under the House Of Marbles brand which I believe is a fairly old importer of toys and of course marbles.
I haven't yet classified it as generic simply because Zhongzhe models are usually based on real vehicles but I can't fathom which truck this is actually based on. Quality is passable but its the type of diecast which belongs in a Pound shop rather than a supermarket frequented by royalty!
Mint and boxed.
Latest 2022 Case C recolour of the generic but entirely believable Matchbox MBX Fire Dasher. Matchbox do have several licensed classic Fire Engine castings in their arsenal but clearly this one saves Mattel some fees and to be honest, apart from the expected lack of chrome, is a well designed classic looking diecast. Mint and boxed.

Pictured outside North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Services station in Clifford Street, York, is Mercedes YD52TWW, on January 22ns 2011.
Theres nothing better than buying a cheapo copy which transcends more than one manufacturer, a chain reaction of copying as it were! This odd but faintly futuristic looking Fire Engine made by Tian Hong Toys is a blatant copy of the unlicensed Pioneer original which in turn was a copy of the original Matchbox casting! All are officially unlicensed affairs though its widely believed this particular vehicle is heavily based on a real life Gloster Saro Javelin.
Casting maximisation and a complete disregard for reality sees an R.C.M.P. Police livery attached to this though the colour scheme does give it a crisp and smart appearance. Well for me it does anyway! ;-)
Part of a six vehicle set. Mint and boxed.
Maisto 1/64 models may now be considered just sub Mattel cheapo items but usually they are licensed castings of real vehicles but occasionally some appear to be of a generic design. This Fire Engine ladder truck has a cab design which could be based on any number of U.S. or Japanese pick-up trucks but its very hard to tell. This casting has been around for literally years though strangely it has taken me till September 2016 to actually get hold of one and thats because its part of a new 20 vehicle set currently on sale at ASDA. Its fairly well cast but ultimately its what it was designed to be and thats a cheap toy designed with a short lifespan at the hands of a play hungry child. Mint and boxed.
