Guillemot / uria aalge. Bempton Cliffs, East Yorkshire. 10/07/25.
'UNCONDITIONAL LOVE & CARE.
Whilst preening, this adult Guillemot kept close to its chick on the narrow ledge, but had allowed enough space for it to move and peep out at life on the breeding cliff. Once preening was over, the adult had shuffled closer, wings partially open to usher the chick inside. Finally, all that was visible was one small webbed foot!
I think this simple close-up image illustrates well the unconditional love and care bestowed upon young auks, who start their lives in such perilous habitats.
BEST VIEWED LARGE.
I love watching wild Mustangs out on the free range……we raised quite a few horses when I was young, and I love them so much! This was taken near Challis, Idaho.
This is an entry into the JRC in the Explorer Outpost category:
FINALLY ALONE
Never one who enjoyed being around sailors all day, The Royal Explorer was glad when his ship ran aground on a large island miles away from his destination. He will wait rescue, but is not holding his breath.
Enjoy!

Vancouver, British Columbia- the first official day of summer! Photo taken along the seawall just west of the Bay Shore Hotel, near Stanley Park.
24 hours after initially getting the Rail Unloading Machine set up the first rail was getting dropped at the site of the autoport. The spur will diverge about where the cab of the truck is, two sidings are planned to extend around the curve on the south side of the mainline. 22 lengths of rail were dropped here. Once they are done unloading, the Herzog RUM 11 will unhook and the 2329 will move to the east end. With 15 rails left on the train I'm not sure where they were heading but the morning light was gone and high sun was dominating. It shouldn't be too long before they are ready to move dirt here next to the mainline, the rail and ties are here.

I finally made the time to hit 328 Katong Laksa. I've had laksa plenty of times in the past, and can still say without a doubt my favorite will always be Old China Cafe in Kuala Lumpur. Being the first doesn't always mean it's the best. It takes time to refine something complex like laksa, which by no means is a simple dish. 328 Laksa was ok I guess, my search for the ultimate bowl of laksa continues...
Finally got the time to release the full line of these with added metallics and woods.
Only available at the *BOOM* Clothing Co. Main Store on Existence.
CSL SW1500 31 leads a coke train through South Chicago, IL, approaching their yard limits. The CSL, which is not a easy catch at all, is one of the railroads I've been wanting to shoot for a while now.
We have not had water fountains in over a year due to bad piping. For quite a while we have had big jug water coolers placed about the building. These fancy new stations were supposed to be in place this past September. They just opened them this past week. Christmas break begins at the end of next week.
To finish off the meal, a cheese plate and some fresh fruit. I was insanely full after all of this food.
Multnomah Falls, Oregon.
Drove by the first time, because we didn't know it was there. Drove by the second time, because the parking lot was overflowing and our car was overheating. The third time, it was too early but we managed to get a nice look from the parking lot and I pieced together this photo of the lovely falls (doesn't do it any justice as you can't hear the roar of the water).
Saturday afternoon up on Froggatt Edge.
This was taken in the other direction to the previous shot, just as the light started to break through. By the time I'd swung the camera round and recomposed, the light really kicked in, and that was it!
Harder Hall is a historic hotel in Sebring, Florida. It is located on Little Lake Jackson, at 3300 Golfview Drive. On June 20, 1990, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
The hotel was designed in the Spanish Colonial Revival Style architecture popular during the period and contained 134 rooms. It had approximately 50,000 square feet (4,600 m2) square feet of rooms and halls, 35,000 square feet (3,300 m2) of public areas including a mezzanine lobby. The 4,200-square-foot (390 m2) great room and banquet room both had 22-foot (7 m) ceilings with large french doors that overlook the lake.
Harder Hall was named for its developers, Lewis F. Harder and Vincent Hall, both of West Palm Beach. Prior to the Wall Street Crash of 1929, Florida experienced a boom in real estate and tourism. It was during this period that many Spanish style hotels, such as Harder Hall, were built. Construction of the hotel began in 1925, prior to the end of the Florida land boom of the 1920s. The firm responsible for the construction of the building, Schultze and Weaver, were also responsible for the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Florida. In 1927, the classic Spanish Style hotel and golf resort, opened on the shore of Little Lake Jackson. Harder Hall was built in Sebring because the city was a stop on the Atlantic Coast Line railroad. In 1953 it was bought by Victor and David Jacobson and partners Larry Tennenbaum and Sam Levy. In 1954 Victor commissioned golf course architect Dick Wilson to transform the golf course into a championship layout. Among the major tournaments held at Harder Hall Hotel were the Haig & Haig Scotch Foursome, a PGA Tour/LPGA Tour event. Other famous guests of the hotel were Paul Newman, Steve McQueen, Ali MacGraw and Mario Andretti. With head pro Ben Roman Victor started the first golf school in the world. Victor and Eva Jacobson also operated Harder Hall Golf and Tennis Camp at the hotel between 1967 and at least 1982. This was the first and last co-ed, teenage golf and tennis camp in a resort hotel ever and drew campers from all over the world. Victor operated this hotel until the 1982 when he sold it to a group of investors who went bankrupt, unable to convert their plan to convert the structure to timeshares. The building has been unoccupied ever since. Several times different groups tried their luck on the extensive renovation project but never got far. A few times this classic building barely escaped demolition, before being put on the National Register of Historic Places.
In 2004 the building was acquired by another investor from Florida, who in 2005 through 2006 gave the ambitious restoration project another try. This one witnessed more work done than all other previous attempts combined, but ran out of funds in 2006. Currently the half-finished project is awaiting new owners to finally finish the restoration. Harder Hall was purchased at auction by the city of Sebring in July 2007.
The golf course is in great condition and remains open to the public on a fee for play basis.

Such Singing in The Wild Branches
It was spring
and finally I heard him
among the first leaves—
then I saw him clutching the limb
in an island of shade
with his red-brown feathers
all trim and neat for the new year.
First, I stood still
and thought of nothing.
Then I began to listen.
Then I was filled with gladness—
and that's when it happened,
when I seemed to float,
to be, myself, a wing or a tree—
and I began to understand
what the bird was saying,
and the sands in the glass
stopped
for a pure white moment
while gravity sprinkled upward
like rain, rising,
and in fact
it became difficult to tell just what it was that was singing—
it was the thrush for sure, but it seemed
not a single thrush, but himself, and all his brothers,
and also the trees around them,
as well as the gliding, long-tailed clouds
in the perfectly blue sky— all, all of them
were singing.
And, of course, yes, so it seemed,
so was I.
Such soft and solemn and perfect music doesn't last
for more than a few moments.
It's one of those magical places wise people
like to talk about.
One of the things they say about it, that is true,
is that, once you've been there,
you're there forever.
Listen, everyone has a chance.
Is it spring, is it morning?
Are there trees near you,
and does your own soul need comforting?
Quick, then— open the door and fly on your heavy feet; the song
may already be drifting away.

I finally found a loose Fembot to add to my bionic collection that didn't break my bank!
I've had a MIB one for years that I wanted to take out so many times, to pose and create scenes with. An almost complete figure with a perfect outfit, good joints, and a full head of hair!
Missing Jaime's mask, the wig, and the taser gun. The search continues...
I GOT IT!!!
Well..... kinda. I've been trying to get this pose with at least the last 9 babies I've had. Nothing!! I know it's not perfect... but it's a stepping stone right?!!? LOL
It's funny too... I kinda thought of this pose as something that momma's wouldn't really like... too unnatural, etc. But I still wanted to "conquer it". But when I did it, mom just about started crying cause she loved it so much... Funny!
Dempsey had been trying to get into Ava's lap all night and finally succeeded when she was in the living room doing her homework.
Often there is a motor home parked on this side of the barn so it's hard to get a good picture of it. When I saw that it was gone I parked the car and started taking pictures as I walked towards it. There is a HUGE new home that I managed to hide behind the barn. The sun kept ducking behind the clouds but my patience (which is slight) paid off.
As with a lot of my HDR pictures, this is a blended one. I use the HDR as a base then lay the original over it and using masks, erase through til I get what I want.
It always feels weird complaining that the weather is too nice, but ever since I got to New Mexico, it seems like practically every single day is bright and sunny and clear with a solid blue sky. As a photograper, it is BORING! Today I finally got what I have been waiting for. A crappy day! A couple of days ago, I finally moved out of the Albiquerquee area, and moved down to a town called Ruidoso. It's BEAUTIFUL. Wow, what a difference 150 miles can make. I had been staying in a town called Moriarty. Looking out my window, there was not a tree within 20 miles. It was flat, dry, brown, and ugly, nothing but dead shrubbery as far as the eye could see. Now I'm in Ruidoso. Amazing! It's beautiful. There are big tall pine trees everywhere. So, today was rainy, which is great, because about 10 miles west of here is Sierra Blanca mountain, it's over 12,000 feet high. If it's raining here, it's gotta be snowing there. Hopefully tomorrow I can get some shots of a snow covered mountain.
"some people say a cluttered desk means a cluttered mind. Well, I say an empty desk means an empty mind."
Pixar Pier opened in June, but it wasn't until last night that I finally went there with my camera and took photos. I just need to get off my lazy arse and go on more photo outings.
Went to Savage Mill Trail after work. This time I remembered to bring my B+W ND110 filter. I took nothing but long exposures this trip. I was like a kid in a candy store grinning from ear to ear :). I can't think of a more relaxing way to end the day.
It was extremely hot, the heat index made it 100 degrees. I took a majority of my shots from the shade, gotta love zooms :). The biggest annoyance were all the flies and mosquitoes that were interested in introducing themselves to me. Can't they see that I am busy lol? The fading sun added some interesting light to the water. Due to the light not being consistent across the scene, it made for some tricky exposures, that's why I always check my histogram after every shot and make adjustments from there. Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

After a long and late summer.
The two Dogwoods near our front door finally did their thing.
Also, my photostream needed a bit more color, it was looking wan.
We got our first real rain of the season the night before this photo. Then a brief, unexpected, and powerful hailstorm in the afternoon after this photo. Most of the leaves are gone now.
