A Yakovlev Yak-9U "Frank", a Soviet ground-support fighter. It is the only Yakovlev on display in the west.
Caged fighters 6, will be held at the one and only Leeds United, Elland rd, on the 11th Oct 2013, this show is set to be there Biggest show to date.
Caged fighters is back 15th March 2014.
I always wondered what the thickening of this type's tail was. Now I know. It is just a piece of sheet metal.

I could not wait for set 10188 to come out. Reason? Because when the set is released the PDF instructions are also released! Here I was able to use them and build Vader's fighter. I did not have all the correct parts, but for free I think I came pretty close. What do you think?

On August 26 two A-10 aircraft landed in Lielvarde Air Force Base for refueling. It was the first time A-10 aircraft has landed in this National Armed Forces airfields in Latvia. The aircraft belong to the 303rd Fighter Squadron, 442nd Fighter Wing, from Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri.

These are similar to the Action Fleet line from years ago. But the vehicles seem to be even more to scale with the figures.
I am not collecting much Star Wars right now. But this line is tempting me !
Our first semi-organized fighter practice, in Shazhou Park, Zhangjiagang, China. We had 4 fighters and many curious spectators. Having no armor, the best we could do was boffers and motorcycle helmets, but it was enough to get my fighting fix. For today, anyway.
A return visit to the RAF Museum to see its new additions, an Albatros DVa and an RE8.
This Bristol Fighter F2b (Brisfit) is made from one of six wire-braced Bristol Fighter fuselage frames purchased by Mr Boddington, a wheelwright, and used as trusses to support the roof of his barn at Weston on the Green, Oxfordshire.
There is no indication of the original identity of the airframe. Mr Boddington had purchased the six fuselages and other parts post-WW1. The fuselages were apparently never assembled or covered with fabric. With the fuselages supporting his barn roof, the barn doors were originally made from Brisfit wings, replaced by 1962, although tailplane parts did survive. Four frames were recovered from Weston on the Green for the RAF Museum and stored at RAF Henlow. Another of these fuselages is now with film director Peter Jackson in New Zealand as another restoration project.
The other three main wing panels on this restoration came from a batch of five acquired by the RAFM in July 1971 from the factory of Thomas Thompson & So Ltd, Carlow, Eire. These had been built under sub contract around 1918 and never delivered. An original F2b propeller came from RAFM stocks, as did the machine guns. Two original wheels were also purchased.

The Ulster Defence Association (UDA) is a loyalist paramilitary organization in Northern Ireland, outlawed as a terrorist group in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland, and which is perceived by its supporters as defending the loyalist community from Republican terrorism.
Its main objective has been to reject Northern Irish amalgamation with the Republic of Ireland seeking to do so through either Ulster independence or maintenance of the Act of Union. It has also operated under the name Ulster Freedom Fighters (UFF).
Its main activities were the killing of Roman Catholic civilians and to a lesser extent, Irish nationalist politicians. The UDA/UFF has also killed at least three Irish republican paramilitary members.
