The Eurofighter Typhoon is a twin-engine, canard-delta wing, multirole fighter.[8][9] The Typhoon was designed and is manufactured by a consortium of Alenia Aermacchi (Leonardo since 2017), Airbus Group, and BAE Systems that conducts the majority of the project through a joint holding company, Eurofighter Jagdflugzeug GmbH formed in 1986. NATO Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency manages the project and is the prime customer.[10]
The aircraft's development effectively began in 1983 with the Future European Fighter Aircraft programme, a multinational collaboration among the UK, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. Disagreements over design authority and operational requirements led France to leave the consortium to develop the Dassault Rafale independently. A technology demonstration aircraft, the British Aerospace EAP, first took flight on 6 August 1986; the first prototype of the finalised Eurofighter made its first flight on 27 March 1994. The aircraft's name, Typhoon, was adopted in September 1998; the first production contracts were also signed that year.
Political issues in the partner nations significantly protracted the Typhoon's development; the sudden end of the Cold War reduced European demand for fighter aircraft, and debate existed over the aircraft's cost and work share. The Typhoon entered operational service in 2003; it has entered service with the air forces of Austria, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Saudi Arabia. The air forces of Oman and Kuwait are export customers, bringing the procurement total to 599 aircraft as of 2016.
The Eurofighter Typhoon is a highly agile aircraft, designed to be a supremely effective dogfighter in combat.[11] Later production aircraft have been increasingly better equipped to undertake air-to-surface strike missions and to be compatible with an increasing number of different armaments and equipment, including Storm Shadow and the RAF's Brimstone. The Typhoon had its combat debut during the 2011 military intervention in Libya with the Royal Air Force and the Italian Air Force, performing aerial reconnaissance and ground-strike missions. The type has also taken primary responsibility for air-defence duties for the majority of customer nations.

Our first semi-organized fighter practice, in Shazhou Park, Zhangjiagang, China. We had 4 fighters and many curious spectators. Having no armor, the best we could do was boffers and motorcycle helmets, but it was enough to get my fighting fix. For today, anyway.
Chiroptera - just a generic little ship, all in old gray. I think it looks kind of like a bat from certain angles, the vertical fins are like big bat ears or something. Chiroptera is the scientific name for bats.

Made famous by the movie “Top Gun,” the F-14 Tomcat is the last of Grumman’s “Cat” series of Naval fighters which began with the F4F Wildcat in the 1930s.
The F-14 grew out of the failed attempt to turn the F-111 into a carrier-based interceptor. Design work on the Tomcat began in 1967, a full year before the F-111B was canceled. It adopted the best elements of that design including the AN/AWG-9 radar and Phoenix missile, twin engines, and a variable geometry “swing” wing and combined them into a large, twin-tailed form that became the symbol of American naval aviation from the 1970s through the first years of the Twenty-first Century.
Tomcats entered service on the USS Enterprise in 1974 and flew some of the last American combat missions over Vietnam while providing air cover over Saigon during the American evacuation in April 1975. Small numbers of F-14s were sold to Iran in the years just before the Iranian Revolution. The Tomcat was retired from U.S. Navy service in 2006 due to rising costs of operation. The Iranian Air Force has retained their Tomcats in service long past their retirement in the United States.

Even smallish bluegills are hard fighters. This is another one I took on a streamer. As it got warmer (85 degrees or higher) we found ourselves catching fewer and fewer fish. An hour or more went by and we couldn't figure out what they wanted. We consulted Chip, one of the other guys who made the trip. He gave us some damselfly nymphs and a bead-bodied caddis nymph. We hadn't been using nymphs at all, thinking the bass and bluegill would prefer patterns with more action, like our poppers and streamers. However, once we tried Chip's way, we started catching again. This fish has a small boil near the pectoral fin. This is apparently a yellow grub, a fish parasite common to many freshwater fish species. I'd say one in three bluegill I caught had evidence of such infestation, though they seemed otherwise frisky and okay.
