Galway features a number of interlocking waterways which pass through the city and they have played a major role in its development as an industrial town.
The waterway system is a bit complicated and I am still trying to determine the names of all of the streams, mill races and canals. If my description is incorrect you are invited to correct me as necessary.
The Eglington Canal in Galway was built c.1850. It follows a curving path south from inflow from River Corrib Upper and passes under five bridges which have made watercourse non-navigable.
The canal begins to north of Salmon Weir on west bank of Corrib River (upper) where a small harbour is located.
The canal then proceeds south-west splitting into two separate waterways with the main canal continuing to south-west and a shorter but but equally substantial branch proceeding south beneath a road bridge and a modern pedestrian bridge and it the past this branch would have serviced a collection of mills which are built surrounding a small harbour at end of the branch.
The main canal continues south-west before curving back around to continue south-east after passing beneath two recent concrete road bridges. The Canal at these points is narrowed by about two metres eliminating need for more complex structures.
Between these two bridges is second branch which follows a south-easterly route before re-entering the canal south of lock basin via a stone-lined channel.
The lock basin has limestone block lining with limestone coping blocks, timber lock gates and box. One set of gates has been removed and the flow of canal is now regulated by the remaining gate and sluice racks to north of lock basin. The canal then continues to south-east before splitting again with south-east branch passing under William O'Brien Bridge and into Claddagh Quay and second branch travelling roughly north-east before re-entering River Corrib (lower) after passing over stone-lined weir.
This is an example of a metal covering that is used to protect trees while also allowing water to pass through. The centre is filled with small stones, giving the tree space to grow.

Roundabouts have several features that make it a safe and effective intersection. One of the features highlighted in the video is the space in between the bike and pedestrian crossing and the roundabout. This section of the street/lead up to the roundabout is long enough to fit a car. This allows cars to first make sure there are no bikes or pedestrians crossing and then they can fully turn their attention to entering the intersection safely by yielding to cars in the roundabout. This feature is demonstrated in the first part of this video. Another important feature of a roundabout is the truck apron. This is shown in the later half of the video. The truck apron is the outer ring of the circular median in the middle of the roundabout. This is designed as a space that is uncomfortable for cars to drive on (so they will slow down enough to make a tighter turn) but also allows for bigger vehicles like trucks to use that space if needed.

Temple Square features two visitors' centers, called the North Visitors' Center and the South Visitors' Center. The North Visitors' Center was built first and features a replica of The Christus, a statue of Jesus Christ by Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen. The Christus is located in a domed room with large windows, painted with clouds, stars, planets, and other heavenly bodies.
In 1896 an American textbook writer wrote that his statue of the resurrected Christ, commonly referred to as Thorvaldsen's Christus (created for Vor Frue Kirke), was "considered the most perfect statue of Christ in the world." The statue has appealed to the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a 3.4 m replica is on display at Temple Square in Salt Lake City. There is also a replica of this statue in the LDS Visitors' Center in Mesa, Arizona, and in the Los Angeles Temple Visitor's Center and images of the statue are used in official church media, such as the Internet site LDS.org. The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland also houses a full-size replica of the statue within its iconic dome.
The visitors' centers and grounds are staffed by sister missionaries and senior missionary couples exclusively; no single male missionaries are called to serve on Temple Square. The sister missionaries serving on Temple Square are called from North America as well as around the world, speaking enough languages to cater to the majority of visitors from around the world.
