Does anybody know this flower?
After checking the according Wikipedia site (a source of wisdom) I think it is one single blossom of a larkspur; Rittersporn in German.
Update (23.07.2006): I asked my friend in whose garden the photo was taken and she confirmed that it was larkspur.

The vertical version of my previous cactus shot, I am thinking of entering one of them for Textures in Nature - topic for Camera Club.
Because it will be in a mat at camera club I have it in a mat here.
This spider was a pain to capture, although it may not be as sharp as I wanted it to be, I was experimenting with my new lens.
A quick rainstorm gave me the opportunity to capture the water droplets on the flowers growing in the backyard garden. Very pleased with the depth of field in this shot and the clarity of the droplets. It's D50 love :)

I'm afraid I spooked this little guy. I think he thought I was gonna eat him. Luckily for him, I don't like the taste of spiders. :-)
Just wondering if this the adult form of the previous nymph....
Saw both of them at the same forest area.

Another dragonfly. This dragon was perched on top of my bird feeder frame. He was there for quite a while - perhaps resting up for his evening hunt.
Best viewed at the larger size. Slightly cropped for better framing.
