Fall colors are here, so get them while you can...this was the view on a country road near Durango, CO, in October 2011.
Fall, Maple, tree, leaves, trunk, fall colors. I particularly like that the rich colors actually glow on the tree trunks.
We enlarged our garden last fall in preparation for a food-growing frenzy this summer. I can't wait! We have plans for all kinds of trellises and veggies we've never grown before.
We took this photo for a magazine article about us and our lifestyle that never ran. I am kind of cranky about the whole thing, as I did a bunch of work for it and then the person at the magazine has ignored my inquiries since November. So, here's the photo. Poop on them. :)

Fall sunshine through the Maple tree in out front yard in full Autumn color. Photo was taken with my ND filter on to help create the vibrant colors as well as a Rocketfish 8 Point Star filter that created the star effect on the sun shining through the leaves.
Three bracketed photos were taken with a handheld Nikon D5200 and combined with Photomatix to create this HDR image. Additional adjustments were made in Photoshop CS6.

Well, I have to continue mveaches story from yesterday. After disappointment (neither of us getting "the" shot"), I decided that we should try a couple of other quick and easy falls in the area. So...since Falling Water Creek was much lower in waterfall than the near flood stage I shot it in last time, I was able to get some rather different shots. I decided I like the cascade in the foreground and the falls in the background. The only problem is...that you think the falls is tiny (it's 12 feet I believe).
Is it Fall or just the heat/drought ?
My Japanese Maple tree leaves are turning a little early. It's beautiful, but not natural.

Thanks to each of your for your kind words. I am blessed to have such supportive Flickr friends.
One more shot of Falling Water Falls, taken a few weeks ago on my first trip up to Richland Creek. Falling Water Falls are a neat 10-foot waterfall along Falling Water Creek, in the Ozark National Forest in Arkansas.
I LOVE this photo for one simple reason. I take soooooooo many photos of my niece. She hates smiling photos. HATES them. She will almost never smile. However, tonight we were taking the fall installment of her senior photos. I had her lay on the sidewalk, downtown, in a pile of leaves. There was a stop light right by us, and a car pulled up. These guys started asking if she was okay, and joking around with her. They were cracking her up. I guess we did look a bit weird, but the result was perfect. I got a genuine, beautiful smile.....one that even got her stamp of approval.
Oh, yeah, and it fits into the SYWBPP lottery theme. Yay!!

Fall in Minnesota is exquisite pain. The multi-colored beauty of sunrises, sunsets and fall foliage threatens to overload the senses. But behind all that we experience, there is a whisper warning us it won't last. Whatever.

Fall in Virginia...
“Fall has always been my favorite season. The time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale.”
― Lauren DeStefano, Wither
A little opening of sunshine was shining in on this image . I walked around this tree and took several shots trying to find the right place . I thought this one best represented what I was trying to produce in the image . Sunlight in the place of the leaves and the trunk of tree and bokeh in the background. Look on large if you have time this is what I was trying to capture in the framing
Fall in the Gatineau Hills is a splendid time to visit -- cooled off, Indian summers, bugs are gone and the colours can be stunning.
