Unseasonably warm weather gave me an excuse to go hiking in a new area this weekend.

The nearly 100 m high Kegon Waterfall is the most famous of Nikko's many beautiful waterfalls. In fact, the waterfall is ranked as one of the three most beautiful and tallest waterfalls in Japan, along with the Nachi waterfall in Wakayama prefecture and the Fukuroda waterfall in Ibaraki prefecture.

The Kegon waterfall is the only exit for the water of Chuzenji Lake. There are twelve smaller waterfalls behind and to the side of the Kegon waterfall. The crashing water can be seen from a free observation platform that is easily accessible on foot, as well as from a paid platform at the base of the falls. The paid platform is accessible via a 100-meter deep elevator and offers a more impressive view. One can also enjoy the sight of the Kegon Waterfall combined with the Chuzenji Lake from the Akechidaira Observatory, which can be reached by cable car from the Akechidaira Plateau.

Kegon waterfall is also a popular place to admire the fall colors. The trees around the waterfall are usually most colorful from mid to late October. In winter, the waterfall is also impressive when it freezes almost completely.

First photo of the year with fall colors. I am honestly very excited about it, Love Love the colors of fall. Can't wait.

How did it go? So here we are at the beginning of another week after a fun weekend. After shooting for the moon last nigh, we had one failed attempt and one relatively successful. Images are coming soon. For now I will leave you with some good light. What do you think?

Many barns of this design and of various age and condition are found in the Western Kentucky landscape. This one near my home is in better repair than most , however no longer is used to house livestock.

While enjoying a wonderful walk this fall I began to notice how different each maple leaf was, different colors, different sizes some more attractive than others, some with more character than others, but at the end of the day they are all maple leafs Kind of like people we might all be different but at the end of the day we are all people and have more in common than not.

The Cordillera Sarmiento is a mountain range located in the Chilean Patagonia to the west of Puerto Natales named after Pedro Sarmiento de Gamboa, who was a Spanish explorer who navigated the region's waterways between 1579 and 1580. On the official maps of the Chilean IGM, not a single feature of the Cordillera de Sarmiento has been given a name, in part due to the total lack of human presence in the area. Nevertheless, over the years, explorers and climbers have named the summits, lakes, glaciers, and rivers. With nearly 2,000 metres of jagged relief, the cordillera has a profile somewhat similar to the French Alps, but its glaciation is much more extensive, sending large glacier snouts into tidewater.

This waterfall is located on Multnomah Creek above the more famous Multnomah Falls, requires a bit of hiking, but worth the effort. I must return here in Fall !

I'm currently driving back from Grand Teton National Park, and I'm trying to sort through the crazy amount of photos that I took during the trip. It could be a process for sure.

While we weren't blessed with great "photography" weather, we did have great weather to enjoy the sites. There were some fires burning just outside the park and made for some hazy conditions at some locations. Overall, it's a great trip!

Now, on to Maroon Lake back in beautiful Colorado!

There was so much water going over the falls that it was like standing in a rain storm! This was the only shot I took and in just a few moments my lens was covered with water drops. What a great time! Also glad I had a microfiber cloth with me...

This looks a bit like a 1st winter Cape May Warbler, but, to be honest, I'm not really sure. (Help, John and Sharyn!) I can never keep up with their change from summer to fall to winter plumage. (Too many 'outfit' changes in too short a time!)
