Beautiful October skies and wonderful fall colors on the trees in the forest hiking yesterday at Labrador Hollow near Cortland, NY
I get absolutely mesmerized by Aspen Trees in Autumn. The color yellow for me is cheerful and full of energy. Strange as Autumn signals that the return of Winter is not far off now.
This is the Crater Lake hiking trail in the Maroon Bells area of Aspen, Colorado. We experienced some great hiking and even better yet photography locations.
It was a cloudy day here but you almost can’t tell it by the wonderful pure light filling the aspen trees. We stopped for a moment on this trail, as the wind filled the mountain hills and yellow leaves rained down on us. Magic moments.

I've just returned from a family holiday in the Whitby area and will be uploading a series of images from that area. Time was at a premium as it was a family holiday after all; I did struggle to find new compositions of this well-photographed area. Anyhow...let's see.
Falling Foss long exposure. Getting to the base of this watetrall is not recommended - it felt like wading through a river in Apocalypse Now.
the leaves were falling from the trees, 'like snowflakes.' a friend said. it was so beautifully quiet.

Over My Head (Cable Car)
Song by The Fray
I never knew
I never knew that everything was falling through
That everyone I knew was waiting on a cue
To turn and run when all I needed was the truth
But that's how it's got to be
It's coming down to nothing more than apathy
I'd rather run the other way than stay and see
The smoke and who's still standing when it clears
Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head, over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind, she's on your mind
Let's rearrange
I wish you were a stranger I could disengage
Just say that we agree and then never change
Soften a bit until we all just get along
But that's disregard
Find another friend and you discard
As you lose the arguments in a cable car
Hanging above as the canyon comes between
Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head, over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind, she's on your mind
Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head, over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind, she's all on
And suddenly I become a part of your past
I'm becoming the part that don't last
I'm losing you and its effortless
Without a sound we lose sight of the ground
In the throw around
Never thought that you wanted to bring it down
I won't let it go down till we torch it ourselves
And everyone knows I'm in
Over my head, over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind, she's on your mind
Everyone knows she's on your mind
Everyone knows I'm in over my head
I'm in over my head, I'm over my...
Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head, over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind, she's on your mind

Let the leaves fall as long as there's a sun that allows us to see them.
Let the sky darken as our steps doubt whether going ahead or back.
Let the green allow golden and brown to come in, until they all end up in the black of night.
Let time pass by without we realising its effects on us.
Let's leave everything and go far away from here, where they can't find us. It doesn't matter if I don't know who you are, it doesn't matter if you don't know who I am.
Let this road only end where we don't have anything else to walk.
Let these lives can start over.
I spent an afternoon photographing Chong and Lenny for a post-wedding portrait session. The fall colors were amazing and we had a great time visiting several wonderful locations in Bucks County, PA. Check out my recent blog post at www.johnstickel.com for many more shots from this beautiful photo session.

Even in sunny Jerusalem, on a few trees there are signs of fall coming. These were found just outside the city, and they were of low color.
Happy Monochrome Bokeh Thursday!
When Fall behaves it is glorious! When we have a 27 degree day with snow flurries like yesterday, that's just rude! We don't have a single month in the year that can't bring a surprise or two!
Taken in The Smokey Mountains!!! Not at peak yet, but getting there. One of my favorite places, to do photos, along the river. God Bless, and thanks for stopping by!!
Oasi Zegna, Alpi italiane - Autunno 2018
On the Italian Alps in Piedmont the Zegna Oasis offers the ideal botanical variety to express fall in its splendor of yellows, oranges, reds, browns, plums and violets.
