Highlights and shadows have extreme editing to save any detail left on film. It was a beautiful day on the dunes, nonetheless.
Blarney Castle is a medieval stronghold in Blarney, near Cork, Ireland. It is near the River Martin. The castle originally dates from before AD 1200. It was destroyed in 1446, but subsequently rebuilt by Cormac MacCarthy, the King of Munster. It is currently a partial ruin with some accessible rooms and the battlements. At the top of the castle lies the Stone of Eloquence, better known as the Blarney Stone. Tourists visiting Blarney Castle may hang upside-down over a sheer drop to kiss the stone, which is said to give the gift of eloquence. Photographs are taken of the "magic moment". There are many legends as to the origin of the stone, but some say that it was the Lia Fáil—a magical stone upon which Irish kings were crowned.
Surrounding the castle are beautiful and quite extensive gardens. There are paths touring the grounds with signs pointing out the various attractions such as several natural rock formations which have been given fanciful names, such as Druid's Circle, Witch's Cave and the Wishing Steps. Blarney House, a Scottish baronial-style mansion, was built on the grounds in 1874. It is also open to the public.

I tested out a Polaroid Pronto! camera with a pack of B&W Impossible Film while on a walk in a snowy ravine in Barrie, Ontario this past winter, and the camera I was testing was a complete fail!
Improper exposure (obviously) and what's more, the frog tongue always jammed the photo in the camera, requiring me to extract it with pliers. Even when the tongue was held out slightly the exposure was still dead wrong.
I plan on putting the remainder of the film into the storied "pink polaroid"
Northern Lights (FAIL)
Decided to chance our luck with the recent amazing photos that have appeared of the northern lights from Scotland. Sadly we only saw a couple a flashes of it in the night sky!
My artistic reinterpretation of the notorious "fail whale" screen, done entirely in Japanese erasers! Ignore that Panda, I have no idea how it got there.
This is a great example of how NOT to take a photo of a snowboarder jumping. It's so wrong in so many ways...

Leonard was the son of Simon and Hilda Fass of Hendon, London. Leonard’s father Simon originated from Poland and worked as a butcher in Hoxton. He died in 1938.
Leonard was the youngest of four children, Sidney, Mary and Percy. Sidney married Eva Hooberman and Percy married Lily Don. In 1939, Leonard was living with his widowed mother and siblings. The family ran a butchers shop and Leonard was working as an engineers fitter.
Leonard was the observer in Blenheim R3806 which took off from RAF Thornaby. The aircraft failed to gain height after leaving the ground and flew into trees on the edge of the airfield. This caused to swing to starboard and to crash into the next field. Unfortunately before the crew could get clear the bomb load exploded and killed all three airmen in the aircraft. It was thought that the aircraft had not reached flying speed when the pilot attempted to lift the aircraft off the ground.

PLANE CRASHES AT HIGH LEVEN 1943.
On 11th November 1943 the crew of a deHavilland Mosquitto were tasked with flying a high level cross country training flight from Aberdeen.
During the leg between Doncaster and St. Abbs Head the aircraft was attempting to land at Thornaby aerodrome because of a problem with the starboard engine. The propellor on this engine had been feathered with the engine shut down.
After making an approach to land at Thornaby with the wheels down and the flaps extended, the pilot opted to overshoot and fly a circuit of the airfield for another attempt at landing.
As the aircraft pulled away to go around, the wheels were still down and the flaps were still extended, with only one engine in use there was not enough power to keep the aircraft in the air as it turned. The plane stalled and crashed into a field at High Leven, near what is now Ingleby Barwick, at 11 am.
Tragically both crew were killed. The pilot, pictured here, was Flight Lt. Alan John Farquhar Symes of the Royal Canadian Air Force, from Ottawa, and he is buried in Thornaby Cemetery. The navigator on this flight was Sgt. Edward Lyons of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserves, he was from Ormskirk, Lancashire.

I remember reading in the El Paso paper about a woman trekking up the Franklins with concrete and water in order to build a memorial to the B-36 crew that crashed and died near this spot. The Texas Parks people got after her because the land is part of the Franklin Mountain State Park system. At some point they were going to make her take it down but obviously that was a stupid demand.
At any rate, that woman was a better man than I am because she had to schlepp water and cement up some steep slopes with no path.
I don't remember the rest of the story or her name, I tried to google for it but found nothing. Too bad.

Ok so it has been awhile...
-summer was nice. and now it has ended.
- school started.
-met a foreign exchange student from Spain (she's my neighbor!) and I HAVE to photograph her, it's a must.
-skateboard got ran over. still usable though. t'was a horrible occasion.
that's what has been happening...
Expect some film soon; I went to Walgreens today. Film is expensive.
Soldered together my Mintyboost and spent ten minutes wondering why it wasn't charging my ipod or giving correct multimeter readings.
A colony of 100+ pairs of Common Terns have taken up residence in recent years on an old barge being used as a breakwater at the marina in downtown Shediac, New Brunswick. Users of the marina say they are being attcked by the terns and the terns are defficating all over their boats and they want the terns to move away. Attempts to discourage the birds in past years have failed so this year a large net has been placed over top of the nesting site to theoretically keep the birds away.
The terns returned from their wintering areas in the tropics this past weekend and have taken up residence on top of the netting and are trying to get to their nesting sites below. Nobody is sure what they will do but they are actively courting and the males are bringing in small fish which they are feeding to the females. I fear they may start laying eggs on top of the netting which will result in the eggs rolling or being blown into the water. A solution needs to be found soon or these birds may lose a breeding season......

I intended to make a happy face for the neighbor's kids, but it ended up looking like Hannibal Lecter's mask.
..so now I will not be giving this to them.
Pie Fail!
This was taken along the banks of the Samammish River in between Redmond and Woodinville, WA.
At first I only saw the shoe and the bottle, then when I zoomed in, I saw what inspired me to take the picture of this. Lots of tennis balls. I can only surmise they are the failed retrievals of the dog park several miles up stream(Marymoor Park for you locals). If this log has this many, I can't imagine how many more are stuck along the river or worse yet floated out into the lake. Talk about polution. Eww.
Maybe someone should come up with a bio-degradable tennis ball for dogs? I counted at least 18 stuck there. Can you find them all?
Pet owners, lets try to keep our balls in check?
