I found this in a Kohl's while doing some Christmas shopping....and yes, all of them were like this. xD
Why, no, it's NOT a honeybee in this photo. It is, at least, a bee.

2 failed cranes, caught up experimentally.
This sketch started smoothly, with the bottom pretty well built with fine liner ink. Then I focused on the two cranes in the sky ... and ... .. (typical of a subject we would like to render well) they stood out too much, barely standing on their metal feet. So, here I go with the attempt to correct it all : I tried to drown them in a hatched sky. The bottom then became much too bland, so I heightened it with ink and then left an area too dark, quickly hidden by a collage that I also balanced on the other side. And here is the rendering of the catching up.
Ce croquis avait pourtant démarré de manière tranquille, avec le bas plutôt bien construit au feutre fin, puis je me suis attaquée aux 2 grues dans le ciel… et….. (typique du sujet que l’on voudrait bien rendre) elles ressortent trop, ne tiennent guère debout. Alors, en avant le rattrapage : j’ai tenté de les noyer dans un ciel hachuré. Le bas est alors devenu bien fade, je l’ai rehaussé de lavis d’encre de chine, puis à gauche une zone trop noire, rapidement cachée par un collage, que j’ai équilibré de l’autre côté. Et voici le rendu du rattrapage.

Since we failed to acquire eclipse glasses, we decided to attend the eclipse viewing party at our local library branch. They were supposed to have some glasses for attendees. Given my previous experience with getting glasses, we got there at 12:30 (party started at 2:00). We found there was already a line, and it just kept getting longer. Eventually, they gave out tickets for each pair of glasses they had, and we were fortunate to be far enough forward to get a ticket. We ended up just taking half the glasses we were allotted, though, to help out with huge number of people who didn’t get tickets.
Last night I had a dream that I couldn't find my car. I happened to find a large, round balloon, which then became my mode of transportation. I floated from place to place as I needed and enjoyed the breezes and view from above.
I wanted to illustrate how cool it was in my dream, so I went out, got some balloons, and scouted out a good location. As soon as I found the spot where I wanted to do my photo, it got cold and windy and rainy. I attempted a few shots in these conditions, but none of it was working at all, so I packed it in and went home.
The Wall Street Journal says taxes are going to "increase" but the infograph shows they're going from 8.97% to 8.82%
I should clarify: this design may be interesting, but it's not what I wanted and I'd rather move on to another design. My intention was to make a custom frame with flight in mind with inspiration from jed_september and squieu. But it ended up too tall and not really consistent in shaping.
Oh, before someone asks, the weird things stuck on the back are supposed to be flight pods or something like that.

Leigh and I went to see the Gunnison sage grouse at the Waunita Hot Springs Lek near Gunnison, CO. We drove 350 miles the night before and then got up at 4:50AM to drive to the lek from the town of Gunnison. We arrived at the viewing area about an hour before sunrise as per grouse lek etiquette. Unfortunately, this was the finest photo I managed (it has been brightened in PS - actually it appeard much darker than this to the eye), as moments after this was taken, a golden eagle swooped low over the lek looking for breakfast, and all the grouse few away. I do respect the bird's privacy, and am glad that the land has been preserved for their lek. However, 300 yards is too far away for good photos, and the sun rises behind the birds, so they would be backlit even if I could dial in on them. Maybe in the offseason a WW1 style trench could be built with cammo tarps on top that could give us a closer view and a chance for pics?
