Oh, darn!

I missed her!

She was just waking up from a nap just before twilight.

She was stretching so peacefully, lying on her gossamer hammock.

Then she saw me, gave me a quick wink and flew away before the shutter could catch her.

Better luck next time.

;-)

Il s'agit d'un montage Photoshop, j'avais envie d'essayer... Je ne sais pas si vous aimez... Ci-dessous, la photo originale en NB.

Of course, this pic is "photoshopped"... I wanted to try something new... Don't know if you like it... Here under the original pic of the forest in B&W.

My girlfriend is Scottish and, as the flower and symbol of Scotland, she has a Thistle tattoo. As such, I knew she'd be pretty thrilled that I came upon such a flawless specimen, as this flower is perfectly bloomed. Add a friendly and also perfect Black Swallowtail butterfly and you have a pretty happy photographer.

The Peatbog Faeries play The Old Fire Station, Carlisle, Cumbria

The Peatbog Faeries are a largely instrumental Celtic fusion band. Formed in 1991, they are based in Dunvegan on the Isle of Skye, Scotland.

Their music embodies many styles and influences, including folk, electronica, rock and jazz, - but their main influence is traditional celtic music. The band's unique sound is created through a mix of programmed effects and traditional celtic arrangements, played on bagpipes, fiddles, and whistles.

The band have twice won "Live Band of the Year" at the Scottish Traditional Music Awards and were nominated for "Live Band of the Year" at the BBC Radio 2 folk awards.

"Faerie Guard"

"The faeries that live at merridale orchard are quiet and peaceful.

They are notable to defend themselves and rely on the sentry who lives in this gatekeepers house, to warn them when danger is near.

And Scrumpy is his name."

Seeing these incredible miniatures, brought back some wonderful childhood memories of a place we called Faerie land.

It was a beautiful wooded garden belonging to a neighbour across from our family cottage. There, we gathered well water in glass milk jugs, but not before we ran with the faeries. Zig zaging through the magical trees, chasing each other to the rivers edge where the giant old wooden water wheel cascaded and soaked us in mist.

Those milk jugs were heavy and cold and the journey home seemed endless, but we couldn't wait to return...to the wonder of it all.

“The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.”

― W.B. Yeats

Heee, colourful bokeh ftw. (:

This cute little fluffball is a woolly aphid. The waxy coating helps protect it from drying out, and may repel predators, too. Leavenworth, Kansas, USA, May 24, 2025.

My favourite of the Shinju Matsuri...Faerie faces...just beautiful

Inspired by the Artisancraft myth contest. Hope this counts, even though it's using a victorian rendition. Though since Rackham is one of my favorite artists I would have been obliged to work with these anyway It's kind of funny, they crop up *everwhere* yet are really hard to find proper origin stories about them.

Enjoy your visit to faerie, just remember, don't eat the food!

Goblin Market by Christina Rossetti: I really love this poem and can't quite say why

And wikipedia, since it's practically required: [link]

These guys are more benign critters, but still made me think of the poem. They're wooden beads with papier mache designs taken from Arthur Rackham's illustrations. I couldn't resist them I think the little critters up top are part of Titania's train, I'm not sure on the lower image.

The top one is wrapped in silver coated copper, the bottom in plain old copper. Both with purple bead to pull out some of the colors and from coordinated cotton cords, plus an accent ribbon for the upper.

Sorry about the iffy color. Rackham's colors are always delicate washes and the bead renditions thereof don't photograph too well.
