Maryland Faerie Festival, May 21, 2006

Holly Faerie is a OOAK beaded art doll. She is bal-jointed and has 13 points of articulation. She is made of Japanese glass seed beads, organic cotton thread & fiber fill, ahimsa silk thread, and Swarovski pearls. She is about 9 inches tall. There is a lot of interesting lore about the holly plant, I posted a little about that on my website, if anyone wants to read it, here is the link: faeriedustdolls.wordpress.com/2015/08/17/holly-faerie/

Last weekend, the kids and I went to a "Faerie Festival" at the 4-H grounds in Upper Marlboro, MD. It was like a renaissance fair for kids. Fun and crafty--build a fairy house out of stick and twigs... Write a fairy wish and tie it to a tree. Maypole Dancing. Live music. Selma and Jay were even part of a play created by a fairy storyteller. I was pleased we were able to have so much fun at a fair without constantly buying stuff, so I caved when they asked to get their faces painted. It's times like this when I'm glad I have my cameraphone.

a part of the illustration after I finished it. You can see the sketch in the "Life drawing and sketch" set.

Me messing around in PS.

Had to shelter from the rain under the Faerie Viaduct on the River Aire in West Yorkshire so had limited views.

Have a happy weekend my dear ones, filled with love and sunshine*

A little background... the reason why my name is on there...

Shealyn is originated from Seaghdha, and also is a variant of Shea (which by itself means hawk-like), Shealyn means "faerie palace." And even further... my middle name (Kay) is short for Catherine, which it's Irish origin means "keeper of the keys." My last name (McGee) is actually Irish-Scottish (more Irish though, at least in my family), which is the anglicized form of Gaelic Mac Aodha ‘'son of Aodh'’ (pronounced "ae-eh," who is the God of Fire).

More faeries (spelled old style btw)
