Autumn in Melbourne is always beautiful, with many wonderful deciduous trees full of colour like this Japanese Maple, one of my favourites, which I caught as it is starting to turn one on my walk today. These two tiny red leaves reminded me of a pair of earrings. Perhaps they are faerie earrings.
Today was a lovely and sunny day, although cool. I thought I'd go for a walk and take advantage of the sunny conditions, as rain is expected tomorrow and for the next few days.

A bright red toadstool at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens. There was a patch of these in a grassy area just off a track. The bright red colouring gave them away from a distance. The neighbouring faerie house was larger and in a state of disrepair, but it did have an interesting bug living on its stem - i'll probably upload photos of that one sometime later.

I've found myself out of step again. You lot are posting snowy shots and I'm still stuck in (pre) autumn 😂 Anyway, my first visit to Fairy Glen near Betws-y-Coed. A bit overwhelming and not sure I really did it justice! Before going I read this:

And made sure I had a bit of extra change, to make up in a small way for the arseh0les the owners clearly have to endure.
The Maid of Glencoul. She's only small but she does a great job. shuttling back and forth across Loch Linnhe between the South side at Onich on the road south from Fort William, and Ardgour on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula. She looks a bit like some of the ferries I used to build out of Lego when I was a boy, and as stable as my models when I tried them out in the bath. Lego doesn't float very well! Thankfully its a very short crossing, only a few minutes, something we cherish until the much bigger "Corran" ferry comes back and takes over for the summer season. They make the crossing about 70 times a day, quite a repetitive job for the crew. Locals like us get a smile and a wave: friendly part of the world up here.
