This cute little fluffball is a woolly aphid. The waxy coating helps protect it from drying out, and may repel predators, too. Leavenworth, Kansas, USA, May 24, 2025.
Whatever faerie mommy was saying, the wee fae were certainly listening intently!

"Faerie Guard"
"The faeries that live at merridale orchard are quiet and peaceful.
They are notable to defend themselves and rely on the sentry who lives in this gatekeepers house, to warn them when danger is near.
And Scrumpy is his name."
Seeing these incredible miniatures, brought back some wonderful childhood memories of a place we called Faerie land.
It was a beautiful wooded garden belonging to a neighbour across from our family cottage. There, we gathered well water in glass milk jugs, but not before we ran with the faeries. Zig zaging through the magical trees, chasing each other to the rivers edge where the giant old wooden water wheel cascaded and soaked us in mist.
Those milk jugs were heavy and cold and the journey home seemed endless, but we couldn't wait to return...to the wonder of it all.
“The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.”
― W.B. Yeats
Robin Burke Liva of Middletown thrilled other Museum visitors today! It's not every day you get to see a beautiful faerie!
This plushie I made on commission, but the design is my own, based on this picture from my blog:

The eyes were a bit of a challenge as I haven't made them like this before, but I think they turned out ok.

On our way to Inverness was this small church on a back road with the most amazing place in the back, down a hill. It's actually the same place where the "Spin and Snap" photo was from, but now with an actual picture!
It was probably the most moved I've been by nature; it also apparently had a high concentration of faeries and was used for a lot of ceremonies. Really cool place.
As for this photo, I really like the subject matter, but for some reason the composition seems off to me. I dunno.
I bought three little dancing faerie plaques from ConcreteDesignStudio on Etsy. Have not yet decided where to put them, but I spent a half hour snapping photos of them in various places out in my gardens. This one is perched in the nook of a large tree stump in my rock garden.

Florida Renaissance Festival
This young lady was easily my favorite subject at this year's festival. The detail in her costume was amazing as was her role playing to stay in character.
These gorgeous and delicate and translucent pink flowers were waving gently in the breeze just above the large patch of pom pom-like asters I posted a photo of a couple of days ago.
To me, these flowers (which I believe to be a variety of pansy...?) looked like beautiful little pink faeries, or perhaps angels, definitely something winged and delicate!
Hope you are all having a wonderful Sunday!

Trying to get back into portraiture, I did a photo shoot for a friend and had some luck shooting this young lady.
Faeries, come take me out of this dull world,
For I would ride with you upon the wind,
Run on the top of the dishevelled tide,
And dance upon the mountains like a flame.
~William Butler Yeats, "The Land of Heart's Desire," 1894
Sigh. This place. This was a chance glimpse while taking a wrong turn. I stopped in my tracks and explored the valley and met a gardener who said that he maintains it for a golf course. The whole valley was a cosmic wonderland with flowers bobbing in the wind and the birds playing over head, going completely wild.
