This is a little collection of my Mums beautiful hand made one off faerie sculptures....I just had to slip them in. I did a craft stall with her at 'the 3 wishes faerie fest' last year. I just love them, they are amazing pieces of art and with beautiful spirits.

Today was the annual Festival of Steam at Chatham Dockyard, where there are always a lot of Steampunk cosplayers, amongst other things.
I ran into my favourite Faerie girl from last year - the lovely Lydia Rose - and thought that this was a fun treatment to try, as an upgrade from last years effort - see here flic.kr/p/TXnrVT

Here is a small (12" diameter) bathing area for faeries at the Davidson-Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve. One year after a hollow tree dies (to allow enough time for morning), faeries dig out the inside of the stump, leaving a stout wall but extending the hollow opening to an appropriate number of inches below the ground. They plant moss on the outside wall, and wait for rain to fill the pool. It will then make a fine place to cavort, and the moss provide a soft area on which to lounge and dry their wings

This cute little fluffball is a woolly aphid. The waxy coating helps protect it from drying out, and may repel predators, too. Leavenworth, Kansas, USA, May 24, 2025.

Modern Statue of Queen Maedbh / Maedhbh / Maeve Naked holding a bull's head. Located on Burlington Road, Dublin, Ireland. Photo take June 6, 2012.
The statue was presented in 2004, and sculpted by Patrick O'Reilly. A modern telling of Queen Maeve, representing the power & equality of Celtic women, told by its viewers as a symbol of brutality, kitch, polyandry, and obsession of a power hungry queen. As a ruler of both mortals and the legendary fae, she was a female ruler in Irish History, dominating over western Ireland (Connacht) around the 1st century B.C.E. Strong, powerful, beautiful, and passionate about love and war. She was legendary for her large armies and rumored to have slept with many of her commanders, motivating them for her tasks at hand, and using them at her will. This statue was supposedly created to symbolize this power of her, represented by her large giant fomorian-like stature, naked, with a verocious sexual appetite. Legend has it that she could sleep with over 30 men a day. Her holding the head of a bull in the right hand represents her main myth, the Cattle Raid of Cooley. As her husband owned a bull of superior strength, that outranked her fortune. She couldn't have that, so as she needed one to compete, she went to war to take the best bull known in Ireland.
