Beneath the recesses, where no light penetrates, there I shall sit faded and forgotten. © 2014-Current.
I wonder if you remember my Mother's blue Irises. On the East side of the house, along the walk by the garage.

(If anyone who sees this knows the history of the old store, I'd appreciate hearing from you.)
An old Packard sedan, found in front of a repair shop in rural Illinois. I am unsure as to the model or year-I think it's a '52 or 3 300 sedan, or maybe a Patrician, although there weren't any badges to suggest this model. It is sporting the Ultramatic automatic transmission, however. Either way, I like this car.
Following my full rainbow experience which had begun to fade, I took advantage of the remains to set up a tripod and snap some bracketed shots to play around with HDR in Photomatix Pro.
The summer has faded about as quickly as tonight's sunset. Most of the children around here start back to school tomorrow. It's been a longer time than I'd like to fess up to....that I've been in school. But, this time of year I still get that same feeling as I did back then even though my day to day life doesn't change a bit. Weird.....
I suppose that a recent rain left water drops on these magenta colored petals, causing the sunlight to fade white spots. Whatever the reason it puts me in mind of the feeling that autumn is right around the corner. That time when everything fades and the leaves all drop.
I imaging the animals all feel it in their bones too. They scurry around, doing their best to fatten up for the long winter months that are fast approaching. I saw more rabbits, and squirrels out during my walk today. The trails were littered with husks of walnuts and other seeds that had been devoured to satisfy their natural defense against the bleak winter.
I saw a flock of geese all heading south for the coming season of white and gray. I'll see more before the first snow falls.
Until then, I do my best to see the world changing seasons with ease. I'll do likewise, as best I can.
This painting was created to remind us of the plight of the Snow Leopard, who is rapidly approaching extinction. As the name describes, the Snow Leopard is fading from view.
This painting is oil on canvas.
The last remote clinic we would visit in Angola was Rio D'Huila. This is a clinic that specializes in caring for tuberculosis patients and it's run by Dr. Karen Hendriks.
This fading blossom looked so lovely outside one of the clinic's treatment rooms.

Rio D'Huila, Huila, Angola, Africa
The "air roots" on the outside of the clay pot at my father's house. As long as I can remember, orchids have been his greatest passion. Now, at the age of eighty-six, he gives them little attention, and never buys a new one. An emblem of my "roots" is fading.
BNSF 635, originally ATSF 635, still wears the famed "Warbonnet" paint received when it was new in February of 1994 nearly 25 years ago. The colors may be faded, worn, and peeling away, but the proud heritage of that railway still shines through. Seen here as the trailing unit on CN B790, it still sounded great.
Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

This family owned hardware store is in its final days. When it's gone, there will only be two left in Huntsville, as far as I know. For that matter, the traditional hardware store as an element of the retail world is clearly moving toward oblivion. Another sad trend. The so-called "home centers" have far more stuff, of course, and "more is better" has been the ruling principle in the retail world generally. But the hardware store was where you could go when all else failed, and more often than not, they'd help you get out of a jam. There's no stopping the big-box juggernaut, though. It's only a matter of time.
"Epreuve douloureuse selon laquelle l'être aimé semble se retirer de tout contact, sans même que cette indifférence énigmatique soit dirigée contre le sujet amoureux ou prononcée au profit de qui que ce soit d'autre, monde ou rival. (...)
La jalousie fait moins souffrir, car l'autre y reste vivant. Dans le fading, l'autre semble perdre tout désir, il est gagné par la Nuit."
Roland Barthes, Fragments d'un discours amoureux.
