The Blue-bellied Roller is quite an eyecatcher with its striking colours and it's a rather big bird too (about the size of a Jackdaw). This species is native to Africa. They often perch high up in the trees which makes taking photos of them a challenge (even in the aviary) but this one posed nicely on a tree stump.
da oben in der Sonne will wohl nicht wirklich jemand auf den kaputten Stühlen sitzen, aber immerhin hat mich diese Szene veranlasst stehen zu bleiben.
Nobody really wants to sit on the broken chairs up there in the sun, but at least this scene made me stop.

In einem Garten in Flatz hat die Eigentümerin vor Jahren einen Kalkstein-Findling platziert und in einigen Löchern verschiedene Steinbrech-Variationen gepflanzt. Ohne weitere Pflege fühlen sich diese dort augenscheinlich sehr heimisch und auch Moos als Begleitpflanzen haben sich dazugesellt. Optisch ein Hingucker !
In a garden at Flatz has the ownerin years ago placed a limestone boulder and planted into a few holes several saxifrage variations. Without further upkeeping feel they apparently very well and homelike there, and also mosses as collateral plants joined themselves. Optically a eyecatcher !

Die 15.600 kg schwere Schiffsschraube steht vor dem Maritimen Museum in Hamburg. Sie ist 6 x 6 Meter groß und wurde als Ersatzteil für einen Tanker gefertigt. Seit 2012 steht sie als Geschenk vor dem Museum ist ein wirklicher Eyecatcher.

The propeller weighing 15,600 kg stands in front of the Maritime Museum in Hamburg. It measures 6 x 6 meters and was manufactured as a spare part for a tanker. It has been standing in front of the museum as a gift since 2012 and is a real eye-catcher.
Dat de hobby soms niet helemaal perfect uitpakt zoals gehoopt bleek op zondag 23 februari. Na een lange autorit werd bij Roosendaal de Certus 27'er met succes gefotografeerd. Vervolgens werd gezocht naar een goed fotopunt voor RTB met de petroleumcokes maar deze bleek in Nederland nergens echt lekker voor de zon te rijden. We besloten daarom deze trein te laten schieten en naar Heukelom te rijden.
Nog voor we aankwamen op de stek kwam BLS al door met de P&O, die we helaas mistten vanwege een dichte overweg. Op het gewenste punt stonden andere fotografen in beeld en deze wisten van geen wijken. Er zat dus niets anders op het andere punt met de boerderij links in beeld. Helaas bleken hier plastic hooibalen in beeld te staan en weigerde de camera weer eens, ditmaal bij de SBB Xload.
We hielden het daarna in Brabant snel voor gezien in verband met de oprukkende sluierbewolking vanuit het zuidwesten én de in rap tempo ontstane stapelwolken. Onderweg naar het hoge noorden kwam de melding dat Rail Force One met de 1837 in Bad Bentheim klaar stond met aan de haak een zeer fraaie Railco ketelwagentrein t.b.v het vervoer van benzeen. Vooral de groene ketelwagens zijn natuurlijk een eyecatcher en dus werden de pijlen in eerste instantie op Teuge gericht.
Maar omdat het vertrek van de trein op zich liet wachten was Teuge vanwege de kopse zonnestand geen optie meer en dus werd bij Apeldoorn rechtsaf geslagen en richting Deventer gereden. Vanwege de vertraagde IC uit Enschede liep ook RFO vertraging op. Dermate veel vertraging dat de IC naar Enschede precies voor de trein zat. In verband met het op den duur verdwijnende ICM-materieel kijk ik ergens toch met plezier terug naar deze foto.

Yep. Gettin' on the carrot again tomorrow morning and flying to Italy. Mostly Bologna for a film festival and then Ravenna with a teeny bit of Venice on the last day. Back July 10th.

The red berries of the Guelder rose (Viburnum opulus). though the fruit is edible in small quantities, it has a very bitter taste. I just find them decorative eyecatchers in these winter months.
Nieuw vervoer voor grensovergang Bad Bentheim zijn beladen styreentreinen naar Oswiecim Monowice en Kralupy nad Vltavou, afkomstig uit resp. Rotterdam Botlek en het Belgische Hemiksem. Het vervoer zelf is niet nieuw en werd tot april afgewikkeld via Emmerich en de Betuweroute Met inmiddels meer regelmatigere rijdagen hebben de treinen ook de saaie BR189 mogen verruilen tegen een 1600.
Een behoorlijke eyecatcher is de witte Nacco wagenset welke tussen Hemiksem en Kralupy nad Vltavou pendelt, inclusief opschriften van opdrachtgever Syntos op de ketelwagens. Met een dag vertraging treffen we de DBS 1611 met trein 49510 naar Hemiksem ter hoogte van Zenderen.
