Het bijna dagelijks rijdende kaliloogvervoer (lauge) tussen Heringen/Werra en het bij Hannover gelegen Bokeloh en Sehnde is een van de vaste eyecatchers die af en aan door het Leinetal rijden. Mede dankzij de fraaie sleep Innofreightwagens en de kleurige locomotieven - meestal van het type Eurodual van Stadler - maken het tot een gewild fotodoel.
Over het algemeen zijn er momenteel vier vervoerders actief in het laugevervoer, te weten HLG, Infraleuna, VTG en HVLE. HVLE is als enige zelfstandig met Euroduals onderweg op de Werratalbahn, de dieselspoorlijn tussen Gerstungen en Heringen/Werra en haalt tevens als enige vervoerder de lauge in Heringen/Werra op en brengt deze naar Sehnde.
De overige vervoerders wisselen steeds in Gerstungen de lege en beladen treinen uit. Een diesellocomotief rijdt de treinen dan op de Werratalbahn van/naar Heimboldshausen. Waar het plan op werkdagen doorgaans ongeveer gelijk is, rijdt het op zaterdagochtend allemaal net iets anders. Het weekend staat immers voor de deur en dat betekend ook een tijdelijke stop in dit vervoer, dat van zaterdagmiddag tot maandagochtend stilligt.
Op zaterdag 15 juli 2023 stond voor ons de terugreis naar Nederland op het programma maar eerst konden er nog wat treinen worden vastgelegd. Omdat ik in het ten zuiden van Alfeld gelegen Föhrste vrijdagmorgen nauwelijks een leuke trein had gefotografeerd, probeerde ik het een dag later nogmaals. In lekker vroeg ochtendlicht passeert de 159 216 van HLG met een lege laugentrein uit Bokeloh naar Gerstungen (en Heimboldshausen).

Der Kernbeißer (Coccothraustes coccothraustes) ist die größte in Europa heimische Art der Finken (Fringillidae). Der große und kräftige Kegelschnabel des sogenannten Finkenkönigs stellt ein auffälliges Merkmal dar. Die Schneiden des Oberschnabels und die ausgehöhlte Führung des Unterschnabels ermöglichen in Verbindung mit der entsprechenden Muskulatur das Aufspalten von Obstkernen, wozu ein erheblicher Druck aufgewendet werden muss. Der Kernbeißer besiedelt Europa, Nordafrika sowie ostwärts die Gebiete bis Ostasien und Japan. Seine Nahrung setzt sich vor allem aus Samen von Laubbäumen und Früchten, aber auch aus Insekten und deren Larven zusammen. Die Art gilt derzeit als nicht gefährdet.

The theme for the 18th of May for “Smile on Saturday” is “eye catcher” and the theme requires a picture of black and white with the eyes (or eye) in selective colour.
In the last three years, I have been exploring a new avenue in my photographic creativity, that of portraiture photography. I used a somewhat illusive sitter for several “Smile on Saturday” themes over that period as part of this exploration. Now, nearly twelve months ago, I was lent a vibrant blue fascinator (formal headwear worn as an alternative to the hat) acquired from a charity shop to photograph for my portraiture photography. As I had the fascinator for over a month, I decided that I would have some fun with it whilst it was in my possession and push my own creative photographic boundaries by capturing it in different lights. Thus, I captured it at different times of the day. In this case, I had my elusive model (who has rather beautiful hazel and green eyes) stand in some afternoon sun holding the fascinator close to his face so that it cast a shadow on his cheek. I’m actually quite proud of this shot, even if I do say so myself, but I was never going to use it. Little did I know that I was going to capture an image that would suit this week’s "Smile on Saturday" theme perfectly after a little bit of post production magic to make it selective colour! I do hope that you like my choice for the theme this week, and that it makes you smile!
I found Bruce Waynes Apartment . It is located in More London Nr.7, London, GB near the Cityhall. I used silver Efex with cyan toning to give it the cinematic look it deserves. It can be easily overseen because there are now high trees in front of the building, so you really need to go up to the entrance and use a wide angle. I still keep wondering myself if the architect had planned this design or if this is a pure coincidence. Anyway it is an eyecatcher - if you know where to look for...

Na een avondwandelingetje in de Hanzestad hoorde ik het bekende gezoem in de verte al weer aankomen; een duo SGMm. Nu het zo'n beetje de laatste week is dat het materieel hier rijdt wilde ik het nog een keer vastleggen.
Ik had geen mondkapje bij me voor om het perron op te komen, maar de foto moest en zal gemaakt worden! Enig klimwerk en acrobatiek is wel een vereiste, en zo sta ik op niveau van het perron, net buiten het hek van het station.
De machinist heeft zojuist de sluitpitjes gedoofd en veranderd in de frontpitjes. Het fietslichtje had ik toevallig op zak en diende als 'eyecatcher'. Op deze maandag 7 december 2020 verzekeren SGMm 2138 en 2953 trein 7676 naar Wijchen. ;)
This is another one of the restored / rebuilt houses in the old town of Frankfurt. The tower behind it belongs to the Nicholaikirche (St. Nicholas Church). This combination of architecture and colours is quite an eyecatcher.
De trein dendert door en dus ook de tijd. Want wat is er momenteel veel veranderd rondom het station van Tilburg. Het kroepoekdak wat ooit de eyecatcher was, valt tegenwoordig in het niet door de vele nieuwbouw rondom het station. In 2018 was daar nog geen sprake van. Zelfs de oude loods naast het station waar jarenlang onderhoud werd gepleegd, lag er nog onaangeroerd bij.
Op een zonnige 23e mei 2018 komen DBC loc's 189 023 en 189 032 met kolentrein 48730 van Oberhausen (D) naar Amsterdam Houtrakpolder door station Tilburg.

Known as the National Bridge, this beautiful landscape was an eyecatcher in this steep & undulating rugged terrain.
Truly one of the most beautiful National Parks in America.

It is some times a year that this plant is making the centre of the sight, it is indeed an eyecatcher with it s burning colors. Special when the sun shines on it. (nikkor 80-200mm afD F2.8)
The Blue-bellied Roller is an African species. They are an eyecatcher in the aviary at our zoo because of the striking blue colour of their belly and tail feathers. Luckily for me they pose nicely for photos too. :)
