Hudson-Hunslet 4478 was supplied to ICI Nobel explosive works at Ardeer in Scotland in 1953 as a 2’6” gauge 22hp loco powered by an Ailsa Craig diesel engine. Subsequently it was moved to the ICI “Roburite” works at Shevington near Wigan which required regauging to 2’0” gauge but it saw little use there and was donated to the West Lancs Light Railway in 1973 where it was photographed on 16th May 1982. At some stage it has had a cab added to the standard “sit down” variant of Hunslet’s open cab design.

Explosive Sunrise

Sunrise at Flamborough Head, a chalk headland found on the East Yorkshire coast between Filey to its north and Bridlington to its south.

Flamborough village has a population just greater than 2000 and is home to two lighthouses, the first of which was build in 1674 and is said to be the oldest surviving lighthouse in England.

I hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th of July!

It was a very long day. Probably the longest day of the year… for I’ve moved to Atlanta and Margaret stayed in Minsk. I’ll have to file for her visa from the States. There are a few heartbreaking photos of our last minutes together at the MSQ, but who needs a heartbreak?

Here, a quick photo of the counterterrorist guy who found trace amount of explosives on my flash triggers in FRA. Hi Roninho! :)

Today is day 3 of Yellowstone. One of my bucket list vacations. Here is a photo from yesterday.

A quartet of GE widecabs leans and rings as it marches around the curve at Explosives Supply while bringing M653 into Spruce Pine this evening just minutes after a typical Dog Day Blue Ridge Mountain thunderstorm.

CarArt commissioned for a young mans bedroom. I sold the mother the hi-res file , so not sure how mom is going to print and frame. I was thinking it would be a cool t-shirt too.

Another work from the "Trauma" project, which deals with violence in general - and especially against women and children.

GB Railfreight's Royal Scotsman-liveried Class 66, 66746 was getting around a bit. It had been working a possession on the Far North Line until early the previous morning and by the following evening it was passing through Hartford with some 'interesting' cargo on 3F01 Glen Douglas MoD to Kineton MoD.

Issued to traffic in 1910, 1NH was a specially built wagon used to carry explosives on the Moe-Walhalla narrow gauge line. The wagon had two sections, one designed to carry 4 tons of explosives and the other to carry 6 tons of general goods.

After the explosives traffic ended the wagon was converted to just carry general goods.

Officially scraped in 1954 when the body was sold off, the wagon was rebuilt after the body was acquired by the Puffing Billy Preservation Society in 1968.
