As we were walking along the Washougal River Greenway Trail, a pair of Mallard Ducks exploded out of the water. They were so close, I threw up the camera and started shooting. I captured this shot of the Drake, which is uncropped and straight from my camera!!!

A Northern Shoveler taking off from water with an almost explosive force.

The Beast from the East storm from 2016 Aberdeen harbour wall.

In all honesty it is hard to fathom the violence going on in our world today! How does this kind of behavior help our children? If we are unable to lead by example how can they possibly understand the importance of inclusion, love, peace, togetherness, helping, befriending and understanding?

We absolutely HAVE to CHANGE!!!!

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️❤️❤️

Waves along the Oregon coast.

This successful osprey grabbed a fish from Commonwealth Lake. Note that this was a few weeks ago; we're not seeing much action the last week...

extremely quickly.

The Great Reed Warbler is a huge warbler, 50% bigger than a Reed Warbler and almost as big as a Redwing. Most warblers move delicately through the reeds but this one crashes around clumsily. In plumage it looks quite similar to a Reed Warbler but it has a more obvious eyestripe and the larger size and stronger bill are usually obvious.

Habitat: Breeds in and around reed-beds, especially Phragmites.

leaves are turning yellow and red

no longer green just really really dead.

who knew, who thought they could look so good

dying leaves never thought they would

they could

they maybe be right

God knows.

He made them for us to know

He made for us to show.

To show us that dead is another beautiful act

dead is just part of the life play and that's a fact......jack.

for the Hypothetical Awards STICKY "CHIMNEY SWEEP" Mini-Challenge

In the beginning was Power, intelligent, loving, energizing. In the beginning was the Word, supremely capable of mastering and moulding whatever might come into being in the world of matter. In the beginning there were not coldness and darkness: there was fire. This is the truth…

…Once again the Fire has penetrated the earth. Not with sudden crash of thunderbolt, riving the mountain-tops: does the Master break down doors to enter his house? Without earthquake, or thunderclap: the flame has lit up the whole world within.

-Teilhard de Chardin, Hymn of the Universe

You can just see the edges of the top of the light in this shot, with a gull sailing in very close!

Black-tailed Godwit (Limosa limosa)

There is something about beech trees that I adore, normally quite reserved and regimental as they mature and the straight smooth trunks stand out from the other woodland species, then they get a mid life crises and boom, a offshoot decides to go crazy and fires out branches everywhere. Gotta love trees!

Wintertaling - Male Eurasian Teal (Anas crecca), shrugging it all off.

Very hard to time these sort of poses.

Photographed on the Camden Waterfront. It's unfortunate that someone was shot during this event. We weren't notified to leave via the speakers. They just cut the music off, and I assumed it was technical issues. The fireworks and music masked the gunshots. I didn't realize the crowd had left because I was so focused on the show. Other than someone being harmed, it's sad that someone had to ruin the 4th of July celebration for everyone. Fortunately, the police were able to arrest the suspect before things could have gone from bad to worse. What's even more sad is the city in front of me, Philadelphia had three shootings during the celebration. My condolences for the families that lost someone due to the senseless gun violence. My prayers are with you and any other state that had a shooting.

A long exposure, landscape image of waves breaking on rocks off the coast of Sandend in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, at sunset.

This is the last in my series from Sandend. I hope to go back to the area very soon to shoot some more from slightly further afield.
