House Gas Explosion
This once beautiful house suffered a gas explosion tonight at around 9:50pm. There was a young couple and their baby inside at the time. They escaped and were taken to the hospital.

Imatge extremadament sota exposada perquè la idea era fotografiar la intensa flama del cohet Bondar en aquesta inexitosa prova motor.

Shortly after 11.15am today, Tuesday 26 June 2012, police were called to Shaw following a report that homes had been seriously damaged in a large explosion.
Police, fire and ambulance services are at the scene and a cordon remains in place.
Police can confirm a young child has died and a man has been taken to hospital suffering from significant burns.
Efforts are ongoing to establish whether any other people are trapped.
Superintendent Neil Evans said: "First and foremost, our thoughts are with the family of the child who has tragically died.
"We understand this tragedy has caused a lot of upset and shock in the close-knit community of Shaw. We are in the very early stages of an investigation but our priority at the moment is to try and reach anyone who may be caught up in the explosion.
"Three properties have been involved in a major explosion, and a large-scale response involving the emergency services and other agencies is in place.
"The child's family has been informed and they are being supported by specially trained police officers.
"Another man has been taken to hospital, where he is being treated for what are understood to be 80% burns.
"We are working with Oldham Council to make arrangements for those who may need to remain evacuated.
"This is an ongoing search and rescue operation, and more information will be released when it is available."

The Pacific appears calm until you go to the beach. It's wild, untamed. In fact the wind blows so hard that at Andrew Molera State Park, which has one of the best beaches in Big Sur for surfing, it was as if someone was throwing sand at us at 50 mph. My wife and I could not even stand there for more than 5 minutes. Still, it was great watching explosions like these.
For this round of get pushed I was paired with the creative and funny jeezydeezy www.flickr.com/photos/47918941@N07/ I was excited to be her partner, since I had been admiring her shots already in this group.
I was first to give a challenge, and asked her to do a photo based on the word "explosion."
Wouldn't you know she sent that challenge right back at me! OK, fair is fair- it was a bizarre challenge and I deserved what I got...
I tried to figure out what to do, then saw some photos on flickr done with long exposure and zoom technique. This is basically when you set the camera to a couple of seconds exposure, then zoom in or out on your subject to get this crazy effect.
This photo was taken coming out of my neighbour's driveway walking out toward the road. They have a very dark wooded driveway, then the view across the sunny road is to wintry pampas grass. The grass in the light ended up making what I think looks like flames and sparks.
I shot this without a tripod, then went back later and used a tripod, because that's what you are supposed to do to prevent wiggly lines! The tripod shots were cool but they looked more like "heaven" than an explosion. So I am posting this one. I do believe that flames kind of blow around and curve a bit.
I like get pushed because it gets me to try new things. Curious to hear what people think- since this is way beyond what I usually post.
Hope my neighbours don't mind me blowing up their driveway while they are in the Caribbean!
