Fernando Amorsolo

Explosion

1944

Oil on canvas

33 x 23.5 cm (13 x 9 1/4 in)

Red flames break through Amorsolo's typically idyllic blue sky in this oil painting created during World War II. The energy of the painting lies in the explosion cloud, marked by thick impasto, which glows against the darkened city. On the bottom right, the canvas is signed "Manila 5:20 p.m. September 21, 1944."

Literature: Roces, Alfredo R., Amorsolo, Manila: Filipinas Foundation, 1975, p. 116.

Estimate PHP 1,000,000-1,200,000.

My 1st BACON EXPLOSION. It wasn't as pretty as the ones I saw here, 67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=325570

Nevertheless it still tasted pretty good. I got a little carried away with my sausage. I used 3 lbs when I should have stayed with 2 lbs. I learned from my mistakes and so if there is a next time I will know what to improve on. I used three cheese, year old cheddar, extra sharp cheddar, and smoked Gouda. I cooked up 4 slices of bacon and broke it up and along with the cheese rolled it up in the sausage.

I used mild and hot sausage. I seasoned the sausage with some cilantro, Sweet Mesquite seasoning a little cinnamon and some Kentucky Bourbon. I sprinkled some brown sugar & smoked paprika and a little home made barbq sauce on the bacon before I put the sausage on top of it. After I rolled her all up, I slathered it all over with my homemade bourbon and molasses BarBQ sauce. Then I smoked it a little more than 4 hours. Now I didn't say she would be pretty, but she sure was good. I will work on making her pretty next time, lol.

Grænavatn is an explosion crater--probably over 6000 years old--created by a volcanic eruption. It is some 150 feet deep, with dazzling green water due to thermal algae and crystals which absorb the sun. Unfortunately the green wasn't visible due to the lack of sun when I visited.

Blues Explosion (formerly The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and sometimes abbreviated JSBX) is a New York based band, made up of members Jon Spencer (vocals, guitar), Judah Bauer (guitar, vocals) and Russell Simins (drums).

Originally from Hanover, New Hampshire, Jon Spencer (born Jonathan) moved to Washington, DC where he fronted the band Pussy Galore. After that band's breakup, The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion formed in 1990 in New York City. Members played in bands including The Honeymoon Killers (not to be confused with the avant garde Belgian artists on the Crammed Discs label), Crowbar Massage, and Boss Hog prior to the formation of the Blues Explosion.

They signed to Matador Records shortly after and have gathered a large cult following.

While on tour in July 1999, the band's tour van was broken into in Vancouver, Canada. A large amount of gear, including several microphones, amps, compressors, and other equipment, as well as Spencer's original 1962 Moog Vanguard theremin, was stolen. None of the gear was ever recovered.

With the release of Damage in 2004, the band changed their name simply to Blues Explosion.

This panoramic shot shows the damage looking west from the area of most devastation.

This once beautiful house suffered a gas explosion tonight at around 9:50pm. There was a young couple and their baby inside at the time. They escaped and were taken to the hospital.

The waves channelling into a corner of the seawall erupted upwards exactly like an explosion.

The inside of an abandoned industrial complex near where I work. Numerous busted windows in the front of the building allowed excellent indoor photography without a trespass.

I think this was once a chemical plant. I did notice that the lighting and electrical work is "explosion proof" meaning it was designed to operate in areas "where flammable petrochemical vapors and/or pulverized dust exist or have the potential to exist."

Taken on 4th of July,2009

Im surprised that the picture came out well :D

I know I *just* mentioned something in one of my posts about NOT shooting fireworks, and instead looking for other, less obvious things to shoot - but I was on the rooftop, and the view was pretty decent so......
