Listen to the Exhortation of the Dawn!
Look to this Day!
For it is Life, the very Life of Life.
In its brief course lie all the
Verities and Realities of your Existence.
The Bliss of Growth,
The Glory of Action,
The Splendor of Beauty;
For Yesterday is but a Dream,
And To-morrow is only a Vision;
But To-day well lived makes
Every Yesterday a Dream of Happiness,
And every Tomorrow a Vision of Hope.
Look well therefore to this Day!
Such is the Salutation of the Dawn!
And when they ask me what I'm doing, I'll say, āI'm remembering.ā
I'm remembering.
I'm always remembering.

We had lots of fun on the South Gare at Redcar in a January storm, even though we left before high tide. My wife wanted to be back in Sandsend [near Whitby] by three o'clock to capture the waves there. My New Years resolution was to inject more dynamism into my images - trying to capture movement. The title, I did a little clumsy dodging and burning to bring out the wave textures. . It's always a lovely surprise to feature in Explore - thank you all for your visits, kind comments and favourites, all are very much appreciated!
Barred Owl. My last post before my pro account expires and I will not renew due to the lack of tech support from Flickr.
Hello my friends. I am sorry I have been absent for so long. Several health issues. Some of you have sent me messages asking about me and it warms my heart to know I am missed. Maybe each week I can post and comment some. I have missed all of you and your photography.

Early morning at 4:50am, arrived at Moraine Lake, planned to take sunrise photo at Moraine Lake, then hike to the Larch Valley. It was the best time watching the yellow Larch Valley on the end of September. Unfortunately, parking lot was full, drove three rounds around the parking lot, no lucky at all. It was weekend, local people, people from Calgary, tourists ⦠wanted to hike to Larch Valley. Moraine Lake was the starting point for hiking. Lots of people arrived the day before, slept inside the car. Had to change the whole dayās plan ā headed to Bow Lake - One of my favorite lakes at Rocky Mountains, visited at least 7 times at different weather conditions during this trip...
Few people around in the early morning, spending some time walking around the lake. The light changing from blue hour to golden hour, the water changing from breeze ripples to calm, ripples again, waited for calm⦠the scenery of Canadian Rockies was out of this world. Here was the capture of the sunrise light up Crowfoot Mountain from the shore with small sand band extending in the middle of reflection.

I'm often asked why I take pictures? The answer is two-fold: for myself, to remember the places I've been, and for others, to inspire them to see the world. Every day for 6 years I would walk by a photo of this scene in the Lofoton Islands of Norway. SmugMug had a giant panorama print of Reine -- it took over the whole wall -- and it was hung in one of the main hallways. Every day I'd walk by it and say "one day I'm going to go there."
After 3 trips to Iceland, Rebecca finally said to me "damnit, we're going to Norway. I'll plan the trip. You can come along if you'd like." So we booked flights, invited Andy along ... and then promptly kicked Rebecca out of planning the trip. Andy and I did most of the planning and a 7 day photo trip turned into a 5 day trip with 2 days of backcountry skiing. I'll cut to the chase and skip the long story about how we nearly didn't make it here and just leave it at this: We stopped in Iceland on the way, photographed some ice-caves, beat the largest snowstorm in Reykjavik's history and caught our flight with 5 minutes to spare. Everything was easy after that.
This is probably the most photographed scene in all of the Lofoton Islands, with a similar photo from Hamnoy coming in a close second, but I don't care. This inspired me to travel halfway across the world and see and do something different. So here's my own take, taken at 6:30am on a cold morning, when the wind died down long enough for the unnamed mountain peak to reflect in the water. Reine (pronounced Ray-nuh), is a gorgeous fishing village, now turned into tourist attraction. We stayed in some of those red huts on the right. I find it interesting that the tallest peak here is, as far as I can tell, unnamed. All the other peaks are named except for the main peak. Strange.

I tried, while not using Bev's tripod, to control the bright sunlight with a flower. It's always a surprise and a real thrill to find one of your images in Explore - thank you for your visits, favourites and comments, all are most appreciated!
-- We had been out in tha fabulous nature of Dýrafjörður, on of the prettiest of the Icelandic Westfjords, not knowing about all the bird life there and that the baby birds had recently hatched,
When the geese parents became aware of us they seemed to panick, and rushed - well, the youngest of the birds were painfully slow - down to the sea, and well there they jumped into the sea. It fas fascinating to see thet even the really small birds were able to swim quite fast.

Worked from a photo taken at Armleder Park, Hamilton County, Ohio. Autumn 2021.
In Explore - Dec. 13, 2021.
Vintage projection lens: Kinon Superior 50mm 1.8
Place: Tharandter Wald (Grillenburg).
I really like the swirl of the lens, one can create nice "tunnel effects".
Altes Projektionsobjektiv: Kinon Superior 50mm 1.8
Ort: Tharandter Wald (Grillenburg).
