Over Spring Break this year I went to the coast to take pictures with my friend Steffen. We love to explore and find places that offer unique photo opportunities when we get together. After dinner on my first night, we went out exploring North from Aptos looking for sites like this one. It was the blue hour and that group with the fire really made this shot work for me. This was my best effort from our first day of shooting and more will follow. :)
We had lots of fun on the South Gare at Redcar in a January storm, even though we left before high tide. My wife wanted to be back in Sandsend [near Whitby] by three o'clock to capture the waves there. My New Years resolution was to inject more dynamism into my images - trying to capture movement. The title, I did a little clumsy dodging and burning to bring out the wave textures. . It's always a lovely surprise to feature in Explore - thank you all for your visits, kind comments and favourites, all are very much appreciated!

Creatures of habit, birds often return to favoured perches. Wind and cloud spoiled my fun but more shots tonight. I've been trying for about five years to capture these visiting birds with little success until last year. A teleconverter has finally given me the reach to get some half decent shots. Always a thrill to feature in Explore, thank you for looking your comments and favourites are much appreciated. I'm very flattered.

Uncropped. This male came so close that I almost thought he was going to fly into my lens. Luckily he sat down on a branch 2m in front of me and didn't move for a while. He only just fitted into the frame!

The last of my Autumn images for another year I'd think. The recent wind has taken care of the remaining leaves at this stage.
My five year old niece in Australia looked at this image and decided it needed a Unicorn. She was so sincere, and so right :-)
(Edited as always with trusty but simple Picasa, this one is more heavily edited than I usually do.)
The weather hasn't been kind on our holiday which is coming to an end. We took a walk this evening, on the beach near Bamburgh Castle, hoping for a nice sunset but were disappointed - so the Moody was myself! Because we'd made the effort though, I decided to try and find a nice composition and the bright sea weed caught my eye. I was very surprised to see this reach #171 in Explore, thank you all for your kind comments and favourites.
