Tacos are a wonderfully versatile dish, and here’s proof…

Ingredients:

1/3 of 1-pound bag of frozen, shredded hashbrowns

3 tbps of corn oil (or canola)

2-3 medium-large jalapenos

1-2 ripe roma tomatoes

1/2 small onion

3 eggs

1 large (or small) Hass avocado

salt to taste

4-6 flour tortillas (fresh if you can get them)

4 slices of bacon

Instructions:

Dice the jalapenos, onion and tomatoes, and cut avocado into thin slices.

Cook four slices of bacon, let cool them crumble.

In a medium/large skillet, put the corn oil in the skillet and set heat to medium-high. Once the oil is hot add the hash browns. When they begin to soften, mix in the onions and jalapenos. Once they are done, remove from heat and stir in the tomatoes, and salt to taste.

In a small skillet, scramble the eggs.

Layer ingredients atop flour tortillas, top with cheese and salsa of your choice.

Friends, .

The Nestle outlet in JNU-like TATA lndicom, Group 4, Compaq and Reliance-is a link in the large chain .

.

of exploitation connecting capital and the state. The MNC, in order to sell its commodities for larger and .

.

markets. This has occurred within and along with the increasinglarger profits, has created 'world' .

complicity of the legal, political, and repressive apparatuses of the nation-state. We know that for the unfettered movement of commodities, sovereignty of nation-states has been redefined. In practical terms, this redefinition has led states to relinquish their duty to provide basic public utilities, like water, electricity, telecommunication, etc., to the private sector. The invisible hand of the market works only with the hidden fist of state: a Ia the Bill Gates-Naidu/Buddhadev combine and now between Nestle and the JNU .

administration. ' 'diversificationUnfortunately, some amongst us are raising complete political non-issues like the ill-defined .

of commodities' proposal -that a Nestle that will hopefully one day sell diversified products would be an .

acceptable Nestle. Let's not be na'lve: benevolent capitalism like corporate charity is an oxymoron. Friends, .

ONE whole year has passed and still there is no sign of Nestle's willingness to sell its competitors' .

products. Experience and reason, in other words common sense, have proven that it is suicidal to .

give MNCs a (second) chance. .

MNCs sell differentiated products through huge investments in advertising and marketing that create the .

illusions of difference and competition. Such media campaigns necessarily use the commodification of women to promote profits and capture markets. It is NO coincidence that the JNU outlet has removed the word " Nestle" from its signs while its walls continue to be adorned with women's bodies. Another strategy MNCs use to capture markets is to gobble up local competition through mergers, buy-outs etc. We all know what happened to Goldspot and ThumsUp after Coke and Pepsi entered the Indian soft-drink market. So, it is only logical for a profit-seeking firm to NOT sell its competitors' products from its own outlet. Nor does it make any sense to sell products similar to its own at cheaper prices! Friends, we cannot overlook the fact that Nestle Corporation solely owns the JNU Nestle outlet and whatever it sells is solely determined by a logic of profit protected by the Law. Another bogus issue is to introduce morality into the debate: Hypocrite! how can a Nike wearing-Nokia .

phoning-Compaq computering person oppose Nestle? This is a defeatist and anti-political line of argument. .

qualify to speak; that Iraqis should fight imperialist aggression with.

It says basically, that only the 'pure' t fight with sticks and stones cannot condemn America. Furthermore,.

sticks and stones and those who don'.

this exclusionary argument is deeply malicious since it seriously undermines what has always been .

essential to peoples' struggles around the world: the power of solidarity. .

The issue here is overwhelmingly one of ownership -of the means of production and of space. Cosmetic .

changes will not dilute either the exploitation of labour or the appropriation of space. The exploitation of .

labour on campus, be it in the form of wage slavery, child labour, housewifery, etc., is central to the current .

"Nestle Debate". The use of child labour at campus dhabas is an issue that needs to be addressed and for which we need to formulate a sensitive policy. We hope that this issue survives post Nestle. Corporate control over any part of the campus should be opposed tooth and nail. Universities, of which JNU is one, must resist all forms of branding if they are to effectively perform their role in society. Exclusive control of any kind has two negative aspects: it allows discrimination on both the levels of what is kept out and what is allowed in. .

An MNC, Nestle, with all its rhetoric of diversification is threatening to takeover our space. The question .

't stop this from happening? Or do webefore us is therefore pretty simple: are we so powerless that we cant be PRO nestle with diversifiedhave the courage to say a decisive No? The point remains, you can'.

I love this type of fence. There were many on Woody Island, where I used to spend many of my summers as a child. Exploits Island really reminded of my times there as a child.
