‘NO EXCUSES CARD’ LAUNCHED TO PREVENT AND END SEXUAL EXPLOITATION AND ABUSE IN SOUTH SUDAN
A new pocket-sized card designed to remind all United Nations personnel serving in South Sudan of their responsibility to prevent sexual exploitation and abuse has been launched by the Special-Representative of the Secretary-General.
The cards, which are similar to an ID card, reinforce the message of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) to all personnel that there is “Zero Tolerance, No Excuse and No Second Chance” for anyone who sexually exploits or abuses others.
The cards, which include contact details for reporting allegations, must be carried by UN staff at all times. The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of Mission, David Shearer, launched the cards at UN Day celebrations in Juba.

A march against the exploitation of and racism toward international students in Australia that the governments (both state and federal) continue to allow to exist. International and Australian students from NSW universities (such as Newcastle, UTS, Macquarie, UNSW and Sydney University) rallied together, marching from Sydney University to UTS and on to NSW Parliament House, asking for the government to intervene and change legislation that allows international students to be taken advantage of.
Some basic rights like abolishing the 20-hour work week limit and providing student travel concessions to international students were demanded in chants and songs. At a deeper level though, the protesters are demanding an end to the systematic racism and exploitation of international students, who are increasingly treated more as a means to profit than as students to educate.

This photo was taken Sunday, April 19 at around 4:00 at the village of Orland Park. More specifically, one of their parks called Cachey Park. This photo displays an Eastern Cottontail Rabbit (Sylvilagus floridanus) grazing in a small partly secluded area. This is a great example of the exploitation interaction, herbivory because these rabbits only eat plants. Their diets mostly consist of grass, as shown in the picture, cloves, alfalfa and dandelions. In the area where this rabbit was found, there were many bushes and shaded areas which is very important for this animal considering they are prey to many other larger animals including, coyotes, foxes , and owls. This grassy area is important to the cottontail rabbit since it can act as shelter for the rabbit when needed. Considering this is an area that is in a neighborhood not only can this rabbit utilize the park as an area for feeding and shelter but also the backyards and front yards of the houses that surround the park that are copious with various flowers and plants. Since this area is people occupied, it is less likely larger predators will endanger these rabbits. #BenUEcologyS20Photo2

Still at the Salmonid Interpretation Center in Grand Falls, Newfoundland. There was a pleasant little overlook of the river and waterfall that gave its name to the town. Have I mentioned there's a certain lack of creativity in naming water features in Newfoundland? Though Grand Falls illustrates this well, I should -- to be fair and balanced -- note that the waterway which same grand falls interrupt is called the Exploits River, which is about the coolest name for a river I've heard. So that's a score for Newfoundland there.

Killdeer - noisy plover with black and white breast stripes. Reddish back. Found in fields, stony dry areas as well as around water.
The Killdeer, Charadrius vociferus, is a medium-sized plover.
Adults have a brown back and wings, a white belly, and a white breast with two black bands. The rump is tawny orange. The face and cap are brown with a white forehead. They have an orange-red eyering.
Their breeding habitat is open fields or lawns, often quite far from water, across most of Canada, the United States, and Mexico, with isolated populations in Costa Rica and Peru. They nest on the ground in an open area with a clear line of sight, or on a gravel roof.
They are migratory in northern areas and winter as far south as northern South America. They are rare vagrants to western Europe, usually late in the year.
These birds forage for food in fields, mudflats, and shores, usually by sight. They mainly eat insects.
Their name comes from their call, frequently heard. These birds will frequently use the "broken wing act" to distract predators from their nests. Their ability to exploit a wide range of agricultural and semi-urban habitat has helped keep them common and widespread in their range.

La Galerie Itinerrance présente à Paris trois séries inédites. Des vues d’architecture et façades des villes de Rome, Milan et Carrare, (cette dernière étant la ville natale de Wally, la partie masculine du duo) constituent la première série. La seconde porte sur des objets symbolisant la crise financière. « Le Caveau », pièce maîtresse de l’exposition, est la représentation d’un coffre de banque en trois layers avec l’ajout de véritables feuilles d’or. Et la dernière série est nommée « The Hammer » (le marteau) et porte sur la destruction des objets et biens de consommation de notre vie quotidienne, le tout dans une facture aux accents pop art et aux couleurs très acidulées.
Cette exposition est donc à l’image d’Orticanoodles qui cultivent à la fois un goût pour le pop art de Andy Warhol ou le courant Arte Povera avec Mimmo Rotella, mais aussi pour la tradition classique italienne qu’il adapte avec des natures mortes contemporaines et des paysages urbains.

Milanese based duo Orticanoodles will launch his first solo show in Paris next week, thus fulfilling the fantasy of a lifetime. Duo and couple in the mean time, Orticanoodles is one of the most talented artists of his generation in the field of stencil art. With a decorative approach and multilayer stencils, Orticanoodles established his artistic maturity over the years and the exhibitions.
Gallery Itinerrance displays in Paris three new series. Architectural views and facades of Rome, Milan and Carrara (the latter being the hometown of Wally, the male part of the duo) are the first series. The second one displays objects symbolizing the financial crisis. “The Caveau”, the centerpiece of the exhibition features a bank vault executed in three layers with real gold leaves. And the latest series is called “The Hammer” and presents the destruction of daily objects and consumer goods, with pop art style slightly acid colors.
This exhibition is like Orticanoodles who cultivate one one hand a taste for pop art of Andy Warhol or Arte Povera with Mimmo Rotella, and on the other hand for the classic Italian tradition that fits with contemporary still lives and urban landscapes.

For our sixth consecutive season, Tanz Farm is delighted to highlight the work of Atlanta's own culturally significant artists: Dr. Jerry Cullum, Neil Fried, and Priscilla Smith. With Ghosts of the Rubble, these three artists will lead a performance in the Historic Rhodes Theatre that reflects on Atlanta’s history, rapid change, and ambitions. This new work will be revealed in four public iterations over three months, with more than a dozen collaborating artists exploiting large-scale film projections, dance, original music, puppetry and text to conjure a site-specific theatrical environment that challenges the audience’s notion of narrative storytelling.
Ghosts of the Rubble: Music plays with and continues testing of the elements of sound with a live chorus of voices and original music. With compositions from Bill Taft and W8tin 4 UFOs, Madeleine St. Romain, and Priscilla Smith, the electronic music of George Trotter, and musique concrete from Neil Fried, expect a cornucopia of auditory delights. The chorus includes Kameron Crutcher, Helen Ingebritsen, Monique Osorio, and Madeleine St. Roman.

Christina Noble OBE is the founder and driving force behind the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation. Her passion for children’s rights is rooted in her own upbringing of homelessness and desperation.
In 1989 she set up the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Since then, the foundation and its projects have grown significantly in both Vietnam and Mongolia, it protects children at risk of economic and sexual exploitation and provides education and basic care for children in need. This event was an inspiring evening with a woman who has dedicated her life to making a difference.

Tomnafmnoge is the last surviving fragment of the great Shillelagh woods which once clothed the hills and valleys of south Wicklow.As early as 1444 these woods supplied timber for the construction of Kings College, Cambridge, and later for Westminster Abbey, St Patrick's Cathedral and Trinity College Dublin. In 1634, the woods were estimated to cover 'more than many thousand acres', but from then on they were heavily exploited especially for shipbuilding. In 1670, the woods were reported to be still extensive, 'being nine or ten miles in length' and a valuation in 1671 found a total of 3905 acres (1579 hectares) of woodland here.
The present oaks were planted within an existing coppiced wood in the mid-1700s when there were still extensive native woods in the locality so it provides an important link between the ancient forest of Shillelagh and the woodland of today. It occupies the valley of the Derry river which flows in a south-west direction to join the Slaney. Unlike many other Wicklow woodlands, Tomafinnoge is growing on deep, fertile soils, the lowest of which are liable to winter flooding.
This is mature deciduous forest with a relatively open canopy ted by oak and beech with some Scots pine and a few other exotic conifers such as western hemlock. The standard trees are widely-spaced so that the crowns are well developed and still allow plenty of light to penetrate to the woodland floor. As a result, the understorey of holly, hazel with young oak and beech is extensive. In some areas, the evergreen rhododendron threatens to shade out the natural regeneration but grazing is light and the ground layer of bilberry, woodrush and brambles is luxuriant in places. Under the dense shade of beech, the ground is naturally bare but supports some interesting fungi in autumn.
The river that flows through the woodland is braided in places into a series of streams with much marshy ground and an interesting mixture of wetland and woodland plants. The river bank has willow, alder, birch and dogwood in addition to hazel, holly and birch and the undergrowth here is quite impenetrable. The dampness of the woods has produced a heavy growth of epiphytes such as mosses and polypody fern growing on the branches of the trees. Clean air has also encouraged the growth of lichens such as Usnea and Evernia.
