So, the Casio EX-F1 offers a maximum 7fps burst frequency with flash, however, the hot shoe is disabled in that mode, instead only the pop-up flash will work.
What is a strobist to do?
Workaround: an optical trigger cube with a wireless flash trigger Yongnuo RF-602 on top sits right in front of the camera's pop-up flash. See them mounted here.
The RF-602 has no problem keeping up with the 7fps rate and dutifully triggers the off-camera flashes connected to the receivers.
Strobist Info: Two Quantaray PZ-1 at full power to ceiling. One flagged Sunpak 383 Super with diffuser at 1/16 power below camera. One Quantaray PZ-1 at 1/64 power camera back left diffused with sheet of paper. Triggered with RF-602 and in-flash optical sensors.

薄饼 Popiah!
Filled with stewed shredded 沙葛 yam bean, carrots and French beans, Chinese lettuce, some fried tofu, shredded egg omelete, 豆芽 bean sprouts, minced pork, fried shallots and a drizzle of Hoisin and chilli sauces!
I think I had at least 3 of these! :)

Shredded Pickle Salad
On a base of shredded Chinese cabbage, cucumber and carrot, I added preserved kale (hum choi / xian cai / 咸菜), candied orange peel, roasted rice and Kaffir lime leaves.
A rather refreshing salad with nods to Thai-style salads.
This is the CCD sensor out of a Casio Exilim digital camera. The LCD was shot, and it was not worth it to get a new one. Plus it was more fun to take it apart :)

Bibim Bap - Food & Tea Gallery Korean Restaurant AUD8.50
A very small serve for AUD8.50, with only a few shreds of beef. They could have included more rice too. Not that great either.
There's also the Mi Hee Korean Cafe a few shops away!

Good healthy Avocado Foccacia at the Prince Alfred Hotel, Richmond. The creamy avocado and juicy tomatoes added a nice moistness, and the basil and Grana Padano cheese gave it a real flavour boost.
oh and their chips weren't half bad either! :P

It's a good thing these tasted sweet and sour... and not salty...
Smoked Salmon Salad with pickled papaya, grape tomatoes and mixed leaves, with a Dijon and seeded mustard dressing.
I poached the rhubarb in a syrup with juice from Ning's oranges and added Barumbah Organic Yoghurt and topped it with some raw pistachios.
The contrast in textures and flavours was quite nice, with the rhubarb being tart, the sweet syrup and the crunchy pistachios. The yoghurt was a bit too sour though.
The ruby red colour was quite a surprise. I didn't expect it to turn out so pretty, especially since it was dead easy!

Julia's dad made Soup of Lotus Root Stuffed with Red Azuki Beans 小赤豆酿莲藕, Braised Shitake Mushroom and Kai Lan 香菇焖芥兰, Stir Fried Garlic Shoots with Snapper 鱼片炒蒜苗.
Yum!
We saw some fresh lotus root in Springvale, and we had to get some for soup.
The cheap snapper fillets, $12.99/kg, from Springvale was a bit fishy, but the garlic shoots took care of that!
Tender kailan and smooth silky shitake mushrooms go well together, with a splash of fish sauce as a subtle undertone.

This pumpkin and blueberry pie was ull of cinnamon goodness. The blueberries weren't really necessary, distracting from the pumpkin.

Mandarins are in season, so that's what went into this version.
Otherwise, it's the same as the salad we had on the beach, at work and Leigh's version which started it all off.
It's a simple mix of deep fried noodles that you can buy from the Chinese section of most supermarkets, Chinese cabbage, a sprinkling of nuts -- peanuts work best --.
For the dressing, plum sauce, sesame oil, peanut or any light oil. Optional are five-spice power and vinegar to taste.
Chinese Lanterns - Spoonful
I was quite amused with the liberal use of kitsch Chinoiserie decor. I did like it though, mostly because the bright colours matched or promoted a happy mood in the diners.
Julia and I were in the mood for trying out an interesting, cosy cafe, and we settled on Spoonful in Prahran. It was a bit pricey, but the food was good!
We picked it in part because we wanted to visit the shops around High Street, Armadale. It's been a long time since we've been in that part of town.

It was very interesting food, and quite good, but not as great as The Age made it out to be.

سونا منڈی
Sona is a common Indo‐Aryan word for ‘gold’. Compare Urdu سونا, Panjabi ਸੋਨਾ sōnā, Hindi सोना sonā. Mandi is a market, as in Urdu منڈی manḍī. So Sona Mandi is a gold market. Both words are used in other store names here in Jackson Heights, New York.
