Salad, Boon Chew's honey-soy wings, Julia and Alpha'a turkey skewers with peach salsa, Chen Chen's sping onion pancake and Carol's fruit flan to finish.
I think you can see Raymond's cheese and dips off to the right.
Decent sized burger at the European Bier Cafe. The succulent beef patty didn't really need the slab of Brie nor the beetroot, but the bacon and greens do help it along.
Add to that a generous serve of fries and you have a huge meal.

Fantastic stormy weather in the morning! There was even lighting and thunder!
Taken from L24, 150 Lonsdale.
Little did I know, it would get worse in the afternoon!

Summer storms hit Melbourne in the morning, and they got worse in the afternoon.
For a while there, just after lunch, we couldn't see the building across the road from us. Checking the Bureau of Meteorology radar showed storms in the deep-red/crimson end of the scale!

News reports:
- Storm causes flash flooding in Melbourne, AAP, Thursday December 20, 09:08 PM
"Victoria has experienced some intense rainfall over short periods in the past 24 hours, which has caused water damage largely due to overflowing gutters and blocked drains," SES manager for state operations Tim Wiebusch said.
Mr Wiebusch said the SES had responded to more than 850 calls for assistance since last night, with 750 of those coming between 4pm (AEDT) and 6pm today.
The hardest hit areas include the Melbourne suburbs of Waverley (which had 140 separate storm tasks for SES crews), Moorabbin (104 tasks), Chelsea (45 tasks) and Nunawading (37 tasks).
The city of Ballarat, 110km west of Melbourne, recorded 28 tasks.
Torrential rain at Ocean Grove collapsed a bank storeroom roof.
Melbourne's tallest building, the Eureka Tower, had to close the glass box observation area on the 88th floor because of the fierce winds.
Known as The Edge, the glass cube which extends three metres from the side of the building and can withstand winds of up to 70 km/h, was shut down at the height of the storm.

Earlier, two trams were struck by lightning this morning, sparking commuter trouble on several routes across Melbourne.
... The lightning strikes came amid rainfalls of between 10 and 20 millimetres across the state in the last 24 hours, with further thunderstorms expected today.
...
The weather bureau is expecting further thunderstorms throughout the day, with storms now over the Bellarine Peninsula and south-eastern suburbs.
Torrential rain is also predicted to hit drought-ravaged areas of the state on Friday evening and Saturday, with falls of about 50 millimetres forecast in many districts.
Some local areas could see heavy falls of 100 to 150 millimetres.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Richard Carlyon said the humid conditions meant the state was ripe for rainfall.
"With this very significant system approaching tomorrow we've got so much moisture in the air available to produce the heavy rain," he said.
"It's just so humid. If you step outside it's very sticky - similar to Queensland conditions for this time of year."

I got a size 7 wetsuit at a bargain price when Associated Divers closed up in Clayton. I am a size 5. Altering it to suit was a great idea!

shot of the pigeon place in Chawpaty. This is similar to Kabootar kahana in dadar but more open as its not in middle of the road .
Lamb and Artichoke Salad made from BBQ leftovers.
All salads from the same BBQ:
The Vegetarian Curry Laksa at Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery Tea Shop is not bad considering that it is Buddhist vegetarian, which means no onion and garlic. Unfortunately that means the curry paste is more or less reduced to chilli, cumin and turmeric as the dominant flavours.
The vegetarian fishball was almost crunchy in texture, quite amazing. The vegetarian rendang beef was also quite tasty with the "meat" meltingly tender and spiced with cloves and cinnamon.
$7.50/$8.50 small/large.

Squishy takoyaki were almost as good as the ones in Osaka! Good value at $6.50.

Julia & Alpha's Christmas Bon Bon Terrine.
Chicken, roasted capsicum and asparagus terrine encased in puff pastry bonbons.
While looking quite presentable, the chicken was rather tasteless. Perhaps it was because we used supermarket minced chicken.
There was a sour cherry sauce that went quite well with it, supposedly to give a bit of tang and cut through the richness.

Isabel and Andrew's and Bon Bon Chicken 棒棒鸡, a cold dish of poached chicken and julienne cucumber and capsicum drizzled with a nutty sesame and peanut sauce.
Quite refreshing.
family dinner at my mum's place. Hong and Feng didn't want to be in the photo, but their hands were quite happy!
My mum made watercress soup with organic pork bones and a stewed taro and chicken inspired by the taro challenge on The Iron Chef.
My mum also sliced up some of Kim's Mum's pickles to see if they were ready to eat! Yep, they were delicious!
She also stir fried some seasonal vegetables, a Thai-style steamed barramundi and a simple steamed tofu with fried garlic and soy sauce.
I made a stuffed bitter gourd to use up some stuff in the fridge! :P
Raymond's Scallop Capsicum Balls.
Ingenious way to sway the voters by encasing a juicy scallop in minced pork and prawns and some chopped red and green capsicums for colour.
Winner of the Best Tasting overall and Best Dish!
Hock Yoong's Ying Yang Fried Rice or Tai-Chi Fried Rice. The Chinese names were variously 阴阳炒饭,鸳鸯炒饭, 太极炒饭 or more humourously 八卦炒饭 or 八呱炒饭! :)

Salad made with leftovers from dinner with Julia'a mum and grandma. This is a better photo of all the food
I diced the roasted purple sweet potato and removed the corn kernels and tossed it with some diced celery from some freshness and bound it together with balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil. Quite refreshing!
Carol's mum's Nutty Cookies were rich morsels of shortbread with nuts adding another dimension of flavour!
It's her pity her fruit jellies didn't make it, but I think it suffered the same problem as my watermelon agar with the fruit puree causing the jelly not to set as firm.
Cute Kid. Uh oh, his grandma saw me :P
He had so much fun when his grandma (I presume) started scattering crumbs from his bun for the pigeons.
bored while waiting for the train to start moving...
Rich tomato beef sauce and smooth sheets of crepes made this an interesting lasagna. It wasn't claggy like some lasagnas tend to be.
One of our favourite crepe places in Melbourne!

I walked past this avocado tree on the way to work... I wonder my tree in the backyard that sheds tons of annoying flowers is an avocado tree? The leaves look similar...
