1 Finsbury Circus (aka Britannic House), London, England
Wow, what a weekend! Myself and Mark Hepples had an awesome weekend but gosh, we were very tired by last night. Aching legs and sore shoulders from backpacks, we must be getting old ;-). We took many photos which we will try and share with you over the next coming few days.
This was the first building we had pre-booked as part of Open House London which was called 1 Finsbury Circus or when it was first built Britannic House. Originally built for the Anglo-Persian Oil Company or BP today as their headquarters between 1921 and 1925. The lobby or reception today remains virtually as it was when it was first built. When we turned up we were lucky enough for the architect who did the last renovation couple years back to take our tour. Very quietly spoken but very knowledgeable about a building he adopted from his predecessor Edwin Lutyens who originally built this building.
The building in its lifetime has had a couple of renovations but this atrium that was 'tided' up in the last renovation looks great. They replaced the roof here to maximise the light coming in the for the office workers.
I really enjoyed looking around this building but sadly the tour was only 30 minutes long so really didn't get chance to take pictures for long.
I am looking forward to seeing other images from all of those who went to Open House.

Location Information
Finsbury Circus is a park in the City of London, England; with an area of 2.2 hectares it is the largest public open space within the City's boundaries.[1]
The 'circus' of the name reflects the elliptical shape of the space, similar to the circus venues of ancient Rome, in this case with a long axis lying east-west.
It has an immaculately maintained Lawn Bowls club in the centre, which has existed in the gardens since 1925.
A bandstand, built in 1955, is located nearby.
Fronting the northwest quadrant of the oval, with fronts on roads entering the Circus from the west stands Edwin Lutyens's massive Britannic House (1921–25, listed Grade II), designed for the Anglo-Persian Oil Company, which became BP; its free-standing architectural sculptures are by Francis Derwent Wood. It was built on the site of the last remaining original houses.
