I made a trip to Chicago in January of 1989, during that trip we also went north to Green Bay as well as various other spots. One railroad on our list was the Wisconsin Central. We saw some SD45s in the Chicago area in fresh paint but when we went north while we saw some WC painted units we also saw units from Soo Line that had been transferred to the WC but had yet to be painted in WC colors. Seen here are two ex-Soo GP30s in Black Creek, WI

Seen on SWR Rail Replacement at Staines Station.
An unexpected spot on this Rail Replacement 'rally' was this Wright Streetdeck, originally new to Arriva in Kent for evaluation purposes.
As it has the Hallmark Connections legals, it would appear it is permanently allocated to the Heathrow base so begs the question of what it will be used on.

Dit deel van de fabriekshallen inclusief de watertoren wordt opgeknapt tot bedrijfsverzamelgebouw, andere delen van het complex zijn opgenomen in de bebouwing van de nieuwe wijk die hier ontstaat.

On the way north to Conway for Railfans Weekend back in 2019 I continued a long standing tradition of stopping in at Lincoln to check on the White Mountains region's "other" tourist railroad. In my mind, and others the HOBO Railroad always seemed to play second fiddle to the Conway Scenic. Certainly less spectacular than Crawford Notch (but really, what isn't east of the Mississippi and north of the Smokeys?!) and with no authentic original facilities coupled with a "hokey" name it's easy to see why railfans might be dismissive.
But their route down along the Pemigewasset is gorgeous in its own right and their equipment is spotless and the price point is competitive so they've carved out a nice niche for themselves.
And really, their locomotives are worthy of more attention. While the Conway Scenic sadly discarded their authentic original New England switchers years ago the HOBO still rosters Alco S-series end cabs that are right at home on these lines.
While I arrived to late in the day to shoot them moving these two beauties were certainly worthy of a few rosters.
Plymouth and Lincoln (DBA HOBO Railroad) #1186 is an S3 blt. in 1949 for the Boston & Maine with that same number. After her time on the B&M she spent years working for two now long defunct and much missed early New England tourist lines, the Otter Valley and then the Wolfeboro before finding a home here. She looks good sunning herself beside the modern HOBO depot built on the tail of the old wye track.

Just a record of a very unexpected, and exciting, sighting of bottlenose dolphins at Montrose beach, 15 May 2018 (some really close in, just in the waves breaking onto the beach). It also happened to be the first day I'd taken my long lens to the beach, because I was hoping to photograph the terns.
It was really difficult to know where they were going to pop up next, never mind find them in the camera before they'd disappeared again, so I was pleased enough just to get them in the frame, and it was a bonus that one was in focus! I sent these images to the Sea Watch Foundation, who were kind enough to reply immediately and confirm the ID of bottlenose dolphins.

NS 8452, which is ex-LMS 712 heads up today's train 205 (Mechanicville, NY to Chicago, IL, 47th St. Yard hotshot stacks/trailers) as he flies through downtown Waterloo, Indiana on NS' ex-LS&MS/NYC/PC/CR Chicago Line. The NYC era tri-light signals are still in service here. LMS 712 was built as a lease unit to Conrail in October of 1994. Beginning in 1994, Conrail purchased a total of 60 C40-8W's for their joint leasing service with General Electric, Locomotive Management Services (LMS). To make the units more compatible in lease service with other railroads locomotives, the LMS units lack the Epic electronic air brake system and IFC package normally found on Conrail C40-8W's. The first units 700-739 arrived in 1994 and were painted in Conrail blue with LMS initials. The second order, 740-759, arrived painted in the standard Conrail Quality scheme. Then in the summer of 1997, Conrail began moving 740-759 from lease service into their regular fleet, renumbering the units into series CR 6266-6285.
Humanity is gone. They went far with technological advancements and they reached their peak. With humans gone, their inventions were littered across the globe. Among those left behind was EX-S33D. EX-S33D was left to roam the forests and harsh terrains of Earth with no purpose, it’s time having passed… until one day, reflected in a pool of water, it saw a flower growing within its slowly rusting body. Over time, with EX-S33D’s help, the flower started to grow. Its roots & other shoots wrapped around its cold limbs & tangled wiring, until it grew so large that it burst through EX-S33D’s chest plates, exposing its artificial ribcage. Against all odds, this old and abandoned robot was able to sustain new life, and nature adapted and thrived, within & all around it. Together, this robot and nature were able to surpass what humanity was able to achieve.
EX-S33D was made for the Preliminary Round of Bio Cup 2020.
I wanted to take the theme of ‘Future’ in a slightly different direction. What if it is so far in the future that Nature has returned to its original state after humanity has run its course. I wanted this build to convey a story of hope, rather than despair.

Central India (formerly Great Indian Peninsula Railway) 2,160 hp electric locomotive Nr. 20024 "Sir Roger Lumley", built by Metropolitan-Vickers and SLM Winterthur, with an unusual 2-Bo-A1 wheel arrangement
The WCP/1 were the first electric locomotives to ru n in India. They were used for passenger operations on the 1500 V dc Bombay-Poona route. In keeping with electrics of that time, these engines too bear a steam locomotive type of wheel arrangement. They heralded the arrival of high speed train travel in India, as they used to cover the 192 km steeply graded Bombay-Poona run with the 7-car Deccan Queen in 2 hr. 45 min. in the 1930s
The name SIR ROGER LUMLEY was originally applied to locomotive Nr. 20024, seen above
