All I can really say is that this show was bigger and better than I had ever hoped for. Evolve took on a life of its own and so many of the artists shared their own powerful stories of overcoming whatever life has tossed along their path.
Over 20 photographers, ceramicists and artists were part of this event. Gay, straight, lesbian, bi-sexual, transgender, Black Latino, White, Armenian, poor, broke, rich, wealthy, HIV positive, HIV negative and even two homeless individuals were all artists in this show. The was a direct representation of what Los Angeles looks like and together we showed why we are the City of Angels
About 400 attended the opening at Art Share-LA in Downtown Los Angeles. The event was a complete success with people coming from as far north as Sacramento as far south as San Diego. New York, Denver and even two folks from Atlanta made the trek to the Evolve opening. I was completely blown away.
Big thanks to all the artists for their beautiful pieces, my family, friends and supporters for continuing to embrace my work through Project KengiKat and Do Something Saturday and to everyone who donated and attended the event I want to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.

Took this at Put-In-Bay, Ohio this weekend when the family got away for a long weekend. More to come...
Eureka
The LCVP (Landing Craft, Vehicle, Personnel), the bst-known landing craft designed by Andrew Higgins, evolved from a boat he created before the war for use in the swamps and marshes of Louisiana. Trappers and oil companies needed a rugged, shallow-bottomed craft that could navigate these waters, run aground, and retract itself without damaging its hull. Higgins developed a boat that could perform all these tasks: a spoonbill-bowed craft he caled the Eureka. Over time he modified and improved his craft and found markets for it in the US and abroad.
LCP(L)
During the 1930s Higgins tried to interest the US Navy in adapting his shallow-draft Eureka for use as an amphibious landing craft. The Navy showed litte interest, but Higgins persisted. After along struggle, he finally secured a government contract to build modified Eurekas for military use. The new boat was called the LCP(Landing Craft, Personnel) and, later, the LCP(L) (Landing Craft, Personnel, Large). In its most advanced form the LCP(L) measured 36 feet in length. It could transport men from ships offshore directly onto a beach, then retract itself, turn and head back to sea.
LCVP
The LCVP (Landing Craft, Vehicle, Personnel) was developed because the US Marines needed a boat capable of transporting vehicles to shore. Higgins adapted the LCP(L) to meet this requirement. He replaced the LCP(L)'s rounded bow with a retractible ramp. The new craft was tested for the first time on May 26, 1941, on Lake Pontchartrain. It carried a truck and 36 Higgins employees safely to shore. The LCVP became the military's standard vehicle and personnel landing craft. Thousands were in service during the war.
Added a dirt drop stem I've had for a while. Bars are really cranked up there, which works much better off road. It's a good position which feels similar to riding flats just a little below the saddle, but with the hands more neutral. I ride the drops most of the time now.
That's my old banana bag. It carries my u-lock.

Wish mine would mutate into an Aeron, not applying enough selection pressure, obviously.
I also consider the prospect of entering through commercial plywood dicey at best...

“The reason why the universe is eternal is that it does not live for itself; it gives life to others as it transforms”

the next series of photos is the evolution of these original ones. Just as my mood changed, so did the mood of the photos.
I must admit, it was a fascinating experiment - turning hurt and sadness into joy and enlightenment...
stay tuned for a few more...
