Every time I visit a garden shop I am fascinated by the mixture of colors and shapes of the plants that you can find there. I really like that atmosphere especially in the ancient shacks.
I tried to recreate that kind of location by building a barn-shaped shed surrounded by flowers and plants. The inspiration came from a drawing by a Japanese dioramist that I really appreciate.
The large tree that sprout up from the roof catches the eye and it's the leading element of the entire scene.
The garden shed is the kingdom of Mrs. Magda (can you spot her?), a friendly Spanish lady who has retired to countryside with her plants and flowers.
The diorama is full of details and strange pieces, have fun finding them. Hope you like it!

Every Winter Carolina Wrens decide to nest in our garage, and I noticed this year's house guests a few days ago. So now I've a new morning chore. First thing to do each day is to open the garage door and let the birds out. This morning as the door went up I was greeted with this scene ! Ran back inside, grabbed my camera, and started to take the shot but Mother Nature thought she'd throw in a flock of crows to animate the image...and at no additional cost. : ))
Buckingham Branch Railroad GP40 BB5 (blt. Nov. 1968 as PC 3216 and passing to Conrail and then later working for the Ohio Central) poses beside a tidy country home while reassembling their train after switching out the US Silica plant just around the bend east of here at MP 124.1 on the Piedmont Subdivision of the road's Richmond and Alleghany Division. Old glory flies broadly in the front lawn of the nice brick house built in 1927 beside the Chesapeake and Ohio mainline. The 300S was virtually a two seater version of Gioacchino Colombo's 250F Formula One monoposto, and it is the most fondly remembered of all 1950s sports-racing cars. Stirling Moss (who should know) reckons that it is the best sports car of the era and that is an opinion shared by many a fan who has nothing more to go on than its delicious lines, which were executed by Fantuzzi. It is a beauty and, unlike some beauties, it does not disappoint on closer examination.
The engine had a claimed output of 250bhp and was fitted to a chassis which closely followed the 250F. It had a ladder frame with large diameter main tubes, coil springs and unequal wishbone front suspension and, at the rear, a de Dion axle with a transverse leaf spring. Like its sister car, the 300S had a wonderful reputation for roadholding, but it was often at a disadvantage because it was a 3 litre car racing at a time when there was no upper engine limit. Despite that, it took a great many wins, including victories in World Championship events.
Maserati did not have a very active sports car programme in 1955, it was anyway also busily developing the 150S and 200S, but the year ended on a high note when Fangio won the first Venezuelan GP in a 300S. Since it was by two clear laps, and the field included a works Ferrari, it was no hollow victory. It showed the potential of the 300S, a potential which was to be realised in 1956 when Stirling Moss joined as team leader and Giulio Alfieri (later the designer of the 'Birdcage') took charge of technical development.
In the opening round of the 1956 World Sports Car Championship, at Buenos Aires, Moss and Carlos Menditeguy chased the 4.9 Ferraris until both retired with transmission troubles. The Maserati stroked home to a clear win with the Gendebien/ Hill 3.5 litre Ferrari two laps behind and Behra/ Gonzales third in a second 300S. It was Maserati's first World Sports Car Championship victory.
The second came in the Nürburgring 1000 Kms when Moss and Behra brought a 300S home first. They had taken over another car and Moss rejoined the race 66 seconds behind Fangio's Ferrari. He bit into the World Champion's lead at the rate of six seconds a lap and won by 26 seconds.

Had to nip to the nearest supermarket this morning and hoping I'd find something to photo took my camera with me.
The oyster van had just opened as I came out and someone was ready to get some. The van comes every Sunday during the oyster season and is very popular.
Sadly not for us, they are well over our everyday budget. :(

Every time I post a sunset picture I always get a mental picture of Anita and I riding off into the sunset much in the same manner that the cowboys rode off into the sunset at the end of the movie. But Anita wasn't with me this time! This was a couple of weeks ago when I took the Long way home from church. This was up on Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National park at just about sunset and the colors were awesome.

Every town has THAT house. Old. Decrepit. Creepy. It sits amongst trees that are dead, standing over a yard overgrown with weeds. Shutters swing in the breeze, hanging on by rusted hinges. The paint has chipped away. More shingles lie amongst the weeds than on the roof. At least one window is broken. Dark clouds always seem to hover over the house, situated on a dead end street.
And then there are the stories. A man went mad and murdered his whole family in the house. There’s an old woman who died there and she didn’t want anyone else to live there. One night, the house suffered a fire and a baby died in it. On and on, with a tragic death at the center.
Because then come the other stories. Go there at night and you can hear screams coming from the house! Don’t go inside because if you do, the old woman will chase you down! People who stay in the house hear the cries of an infant and smell smoke at night.
The house fascinates me. It always has, ever since I was a child and I first heard the stories. It is another October. Time to collect the odd stories about the house, my favorite part of the year.

My new sim design is inspired by a low country tidal marsh at ebb tide. I can only take credit for the inspiration and the creative brief. The sim was designed by Sparkle Skye, who once again took my ideas and magically brought them to life. Well, less magic and more hard work. A big mess and a moment that still fascinates me to this day when I look at this photo. There is so much to discover and every time I look at it I see a little more detail. The little black duckling doesn't want to fit right into this chaotic-looking mess of flying seagulls. I asked myself why is it even found in the middle of so many seagulls? What is it doing there as the only one of its kind? And then you're just suddenly left alone. What could have been the reason for the departure of so many seagulls? In any case, it wasn't me, because I photographed the whole scene from a greater distance and had been standing in this hidden place for a while. But whatever, many questions remain unanswered and the whole scenery is still a mystery to me to this day. And that's right, because we humans don't must have to have an explanation for everything that's going on on our Planet. Nature keeps many secrets to itself for a good reason I think.

56045 and 56103 power past Fairwood Junction missing out the booked 30 minute stop at Westbury, this was due to the late running of the service. The outbound leg left Willesden 93 minutes late, this was caused by the rail strike on London underground delaying essential workers from getting to their duties on time. The train arrived at Merehead 31 minutes late, this caused the return loaded trip to miss her path and passed me nearly an hour late. Every cloud has a silver lining and the lateness of the 6M18 1624 Merehead Quarry to Willesden DCR meant the sun was much lower, the rain showers had cleared and i managed to bag this shot.
