Sandstone outcroppings are common on top of the buttes of central and western North Dakota. Also common are the etchings of passersby who loitered long enough to carve their names.

The coolest thing I saw today were the moon-shapes on the ground.

A welcome change in the weather looks on the cards as clear skies replace the steady rain just as stalwart class 20's 20303 and 20305 approach Swinton with the 1140 Sheffield to Hull RHTT working.

During the years of WWll there was an airfield nearby which was used by the RAF. This window commemorates the gunnery school that was stationed there as does the flag in the background.

It proved quite a challenge to capture this as the autofocus wasn't happy focusing on the glass and the angle was awkward to get the flag in the background, but I think it worked in the end.

Another brown chicken egg that wound up unbrowned. Etched, hand-painted dyes, and gilding to follow tomorrow. Soon to be on my new Etsy store!

 

Is it just me, or is it weird calling it a peacock egg? How many peacocks lay eggs anyway? Henna pattern inspired.
