The Dumbbell (or Apple Core) Nebula
Planetary nebula Messier 27 - a shell of fluorescing ionised hydrogen (red) and ionised oxygen ( green/blue) surrounds the remnants of a once active star - probably not unlike our own Sun. The white dwarf remnant star can be seen at the centre of the nebula.
The hard UV light from the white dwarf makes the surrounding ionised gases fluoresce in characteristic colours. The clouds of gas were probably shrugged off the star in the final phases of its life.
Deeper images show further shells of gas which are just hinted at here.

This creation was built in 15 hours before Bricking Bavaria this year. It was inspired by an unknown South Korean artist whose work I’ve seen in a lobby of a hotel in Seoul. I like the idea of “distorting reality”, so I was curious to explore it in LEGO form. It was trickier than I thought to build as some bricks weren’t aligning as easily, initially I wanted to make the distorted effects slightly longer, however I ran out of bricks and time. There is definitely room for improvement and I would like to hear your feedback on what exactly. Let me know what you think, thanks!

a qualsiasi domanda.

*«Trial and Error»:
A method of reaching a correct solution or satisfactory result by trying out various means or theories until error is sufficiently reduced or eliminated.
A New Adventure, February 2004, Terrebonne, Québec, Canada.
Note a): I believe I can say, that almost 100% of Canadians have been living this scary situation one day! .......I sure did!
Note b): Radial blur has been added to accentuate the focus on the young skater.
Quotation:
Best wide-angle lens? Two steps backward. Look for the 'ah-ha'.
Ernst Haas, Comment in workshop, 1985
Wide image of dark patches of interstellar dust on the border of the constellations of Cepheus and Cygnus, the two largest dark nebulae that dominante the frame and are visible to the naked eye under dark skies are Le Gentil 3 ( left) and the Northern Coalsack (right). Residing among the dust clouds are vast star forming hydrogen emission nebulae, including the Elephant's Trunk (left) and the famous North America Nebula (right). To the bottom right is Herschel's Garnet Star, aka Mu Cephei, a dying red supergiant star poised to go supernova within next few centuries.

Adobe Photoshop CS5.1
Notes:
-Image has been mosaicked with my previous Cygnus image to provide better framing.
- My first attempt stacking using Sequator. I like how fast it is! However I don't think it has drizzle capability and I think images come out of it noisier than using Deep Sky Stacker, thought this could be error on my part.
Week 14 in 52 Weeks for Dogs
My efforts to get a reflection shot this week (for last week's challenge) failed due to photgrapher error, instead I've got a simple portrait on our first sunny spring morning after days of heavy rain.

Not bad for coming straight out of camera. Pre-rotated shot and trimmed for a 16:9 and still 6400px wide. Effective focal length of 640mm on crop sensor. Spectator vantage point 8'-10' away from the fence I had to shoot through. Glad it was overcast :P
I generally do not put full size images up here but figured 'why not' for anyone that wanted to see what the camera can do.
Admittedly, there was an issue with focusing that was not really revealed (that I could not fix) until after this event so I had a helluva time with this camera. I have since (I think) rectified the matter but have not had a chance to really test it. Was not really a fan of the 400 f2.8 mkIII and how it focused. Much prefer the way the mkII focuses but could have also been user-error. Ok, likely was user error. Note to self: Don't show up to a major event with brand new kit that you've never tested. Still got hundreds of keepers though.
I also learned that I cannot underexpose by 2/3 to 1 stop as I would like to with this sensor because it's too dark. Dynamic range is definitely better than the 7DmkII but the dark areas are a little to dark. My concern with that is I will have to compromise on the highlights a little bit because the darks are so dark and not so sure I want to do that. Nevertheless, I figured I'd put-up what I got straight off the camera because for the price of this camera (and quality glass), it's pretty darn good.
There is no editing done to this other than the crop and converting the RAW to RGB. Settings like contrast, sharpness were set in-camera so what I shot is what I got.
Definitely a little crunchier for my tastes with the noise than what I'm used to getting from my 5D mkIV but overall, decent. Jury is still out though on whether the 90D is viable for me to use. Not a fan of crop sensors and how they cut-into/trim the perspective-feel/look compared to a full frame. Time will tell after some more testing and using the 300mm f2.8 and what I can get.

If I don't grab the moment with photography the shot is lost for ever. Whoops, a dab of chocolate and all for the purple colour was part of the lid to a box of truffles I had for my birthday. I had an art teacher who used to say how even a thumb print in error was important on our work.
I wish you all well in whatever way is most appropriate for you but cannot take on the extra work of writing it to you individually. Thank you for your good wishes and to those who have made me their contact. Due to poor health, eye problems and low energy I regret I can't take on any new contacts but nearly always manage to reply to your comments. Please no more than 1 invite

Seems this typewriter has as much randomness as I do. Why is the error control on the space bar instead of backspace?
Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia is widely known as a "must visit" destination for photographers. Any time we visit the province we always set aside a day or two to explore the area, regardless of the weather. Our time is generally split between photographing the "iconic" subject material that most visitors are familiar with, and getting pics of other less "touristy" stuff that we come across. Here I was getting photos of a boat at a dock on the other side of the harbor. In moving around to get a variety of different compositions, I spotted this can jammed onto a protruding bolt on new dock timbers. I grabbed several images from a few different viewpoints, this one being the pic I liked best. Suspecting that this had not been deliberately placed for those photographers that might have had a "Peggy's Cove Coke can" on their Nova Scotia image "bucket list", I removed it and tossed it in a trash can on the way back to my van.
Taken with my new (at the time) Kodak DX6490 camera, a handy pocket-sized point & shoot that always gave me great pix. Anything bad that it produced was due to "operator error".
