Intel at Embedded World 2013 - 05 - Firmware Support Package

My dad is super awesome. When Thom and I bought a house last year, he helped with all sorts of stuff. I want to make him a quilt to thank him for all his help, and I though this construction/tools theme would be fun.

But what I know about quilting could fit in a thimble (har har). I need help picking fabrics. Which of the above do you like? What other kinds of stuff do you suggest with these ones?

And, any pattern ideas or inspirations? Link me to your faves!

I find it amazing that this tree has been able to grow and survive the amount of flash floods that have come down through here over the centuries... Its giant trunk and the rocks practically embedded in its trunk tell a story of resilience that almost none can match.

I took one of the not-uncommon nice winter days to poke around the Denver Gardens. They still had their Christmas-season ice sculptures up. There were very few people around, so I got up close to one of them and found this leaf embedded in the melting sculpture.

This photo was taken to represent two research papers (AeroRigUI and ThrowIO) presented from AxLab, at ACM CHI2023, the largest conference for Human-Computer Interaction research domain.

Both projects innovated how mobile swarm robots could be deployed to our everyday ceiling surfaces to enrich our future of everyday user experiences. For example, AeroRigUI, inspired by aerial rigging performances, introduced a novel approach for ceiling robots to manipulate physical objects in the air with rigging threads. ThrowIO, on the other hand, innovated a new approach to offer users with throw and catching experience, using the swarm robots to push and drop balls, embedded with magnets, thrown by users.

Together, AeroRigUI and ThrowIO illustrate the grand potential of our future living environments facilitated by distributed swarm robots on the ceiling surfaces. While traditional robots and computer interfaces are heavily constrained by gravity, our research fully exploit the 3D space with dynamic physical matter to augment our space with tangible and embodied spatial interaction.

I like the natural sand patterns left after the tide goes out.

Sizing took a few tries. And that one is never coming out again (adding a paperclip hole to the bottom next time.)

Yes, some of the embeds moved and weren't cut exactly through as they should have been. Goes to show how tricky this technique can be. But look at all of the bars that worked!
