The square is a piece of opal. The substance is highly reactive to heat, so we had to embed it in a tube of glass and then make a marble around it. There is a dot of air in there next to the chip. Its very hard to encase something in glass without getting air bubbles. The stuff on the right is a swirl of custom mixed glass with some glittery glass ("unobtainium") and an exotic blue.
Make a photograph outdoors without an obvious horizon line., post it then Tag it with #TP157
Technical Horizon – The horizon provides a natural line/break for the separation of two subject areas, two contrasts to different back grounds or colours. Old school implies that the horizon should always be in the middle (top to bottom) of the image. Naturally the eye expects it to be there for us to gain direction and maintain balance. The horizon assignments give you the prompt to change this and either include or exclude the horizon as a feature in the composition. Include assignments suggest that your composition uses the horizon either towards the bottom generating negative space or using the sky to compliment the image even further. At the top of the image this allows you to at additional narration, without making a song and dance about the upper section of your photograph. Exclude assignments completely change the norm, can you express a hill, a sloping field, suggest the height of a building without having some form of horizon or break in the image.

"You'll never get me in the same shot as that sausage."
Huy is the only one who will get this joke. So don't worry about it if you don't get it.
With all these Red Admirals everywhere (this is right outside our new home) this is a great time for anyone who hasn't been previously successful with butterfly photography to excel. You can't miss right now in this part of the country.
